"Oh good lord, angel.." she rolled her eyes and laughed again. "Pretty please? Come on, day at least think about it.." "Alright. I'll THINK about it." she told him and took her last swallow of coffee. "Woo hoo! That's better than no.." he teased. "You're such a goofball, angelface. Thank you for the coffee baby. I have get done here soon though...I have a mountain of homework callin' my name. And another job to do.." she sighed. "Okay. Thanks for keeping me company Day. I missed you the last couple of weeks." he looked right into her eyes and she almost melted. No, she thought to herself, that's just wishful thinkin' Dayna. He did NOT just look at you like THAT. Get a grip girlfriend. "Missed talkin' to you too, angel. See you next week, maybe?" she said lightly. "Definately." he smiled, and left her to get her work done. |
Day worked quickly then, getting everything on the list Ms. hanson left for her. Diana was busy running little kids to doctor's appointments and other things and suddenly Day felt like she shouldn't stay too long, considering the fact that every time Taylor came into a room she was working in she became flustered, and distracted. And Taylor seemed determined to be in whatever room she was working in, often. She was finally finished and gathering up her things, when Taylor came up behind her. "You're leaving?" he asked. It almost seemed like he was disappointed. "Gotta go, angel. A woman's work is never done.." she joked. "Yeah..so my mother is always saying." he smiled. "Want another cup before you go?" His eyes pleaded with her to stay. She sighed softly to herself. "Okay, baby. But only one. Then I REALLY have to get to my next job." she smiled. "Kay." he grinned and poured two more cups. |
Taylor was so bored riding around in Tony's truck, Ike and Zac seemed to be enjoying themselves, though. Tony's girlfriend was along, and Ike had a date too. Tony's girlfriend had included her sister, and she and Zac seemed to be getting along well. Tony had told Taylor about a girl he had met, but Tay declined, claiming he was still put off by the last 'blind date' Tony had arranged without his permission. So he sat, looking out the window as they rode, wondering why in the hell he had even bothered to come out. All he could think about was Day, what she was doing, where she was, feeling bad that she worked so hard, and wondering if she thought about him when she was doing whatever it was she had to do. Especially after her reaction to him the other morning. He hoped he wasn't imagining it, but he thought he saw something in her amber eyes. He rested his head against the glass and then sat up straight. "Tony, stop the truck." he said and shoved his friend in the shoulder. "What for dude?" he turned back slightly to look at Taylor. "Just stop the truck, would ya?" he asked angrily. Tony pulled over and slammed on the brakes. "Dude, what the fuck?" he asked Taylor. "Ike. Is that Day? Or am I seeing things?" Taylor asked his brother. "Where?" Ike asked looking out the window. "Zac?" Taylor elbowed him. "It's Dayna. She looks wasted.." Zac said and turned back to the girl next to him. "Shit!" he muttered and shoved open his door. "Dude.." Tony called after him. "We ain't waitin'!" "So don't.." Taylor called back. "I don't give a shit. I can get home by myself. Ike tell mom I'm helping Day.." "Kay bro.." Ike called and Tony sped off. "Jeez what an asshole.." Taylor muttered to himself thinking of Tony. Taylor walked up behind her as she dropped her keys. "Day? Please don't tell me you're gonna try to drive." "Be a big fucking miracle, seeing as how I can't even hold on to my keys.." she grouched under her breath, turning to see who had spoken to her. "Angel! Whatcha doin' here dollface?" she slurred as she picked up her keys. "I saw you and made Tony stop. You really shouldn't drive Day.." he said, worried. "I know angel, too smoky in there and too cold out here." she slurred and leaned against her car. "I was just gonna sit here and get some air." "You here with someone?" he asked looking toward the door. "Naw..don't have time for that.." she smiled. "What are you doing here then?" "Celebratin' the departure of my deadbeat, no-rent-payin' sorry excuse of a slut, roommate.." she said. "Didn't wanna hang out while she and her loser excuse of a man boyfriend haul her crap outta my place." she told him with a bitter laugh. "I'm sorry, Day." he said and shoved his hands into his pockets. It was getting cold. "You got nothin' to be sorry for angel." she turned and tried to put the key in the lock, missing completely. |
Taylor grabbed her wrist and turned her toward him. "Let me.." he said and took the keys from her. He took her by the elbow and guided her to the passenger side, opened the door and steadied her as she slid into her seat. He closed the door, went around and got in to find her looking steadily at him. "Thank you angelface. Didn't really like the idea of sleeping it off in my car." she said. "I don't like it either. This isn't like you, Day." he said. "No, it's not. Skipped dinner and went in to the bar pissed off. Usually if I drink I do it at home, but.." she let her head fall back against the seat, and turned her face to look at him again. His eyes glowed like blue diamonds under the light from the streetlamp. God, he is such a beautiful man, she thought. |
