  2009 SEASON

Rd 1 v Griffith Black & Whites-  The Hawks came back to earth after all the pre-season hype to get away with an 18-18 draw. Yanco's defence in the 1st half was great but just couldn't hang on to the pill. Both sides made heaps of handling errors a draw was probably the fair result. Players/player unavailable

Rd2 v Darlington Pt/Coleambally- The Hawks claimed their 1st win for 2009 with an under strength side with a nail biting 34-30 scoreline. DPC fought back in the 2nd half to level the scores at 30-all but rookie under18 winger Troy Dumbrell crossed to seal the win in what Warren Weir described as a vast improvement on their 1st match. P/P was Daniel Johnson

Rd3 v West Wyalong-With another depleted side the Hawks held off a fightback by Wyalong to win impressively 30-24. P/P was Kurt Wilton who was moved into the 2nd row and had an outstanding game in both attack and defence.

Rd4 v Yenda - Yet again, as happens year after year against Yenda, Yanco were beaten on the bell going down 28-30 in a see sawing but entertaining match. P/P un/av

Rd5 v -bye

Rd6 - Waratahs- In probably their best performance of the year so far the hawks blew the tahs off the park in the 1st half to go to the break 38-6 up. The 2nd half saw them let them back into it but finished off to win 57-22. P/P was Willie Newton

Rd7 v Lakes- The Hawks showed their skills with some outstanding long length tries to blow Lakes away 44-24, although letting them score some 2nd half tries. P/P with 4 tries and setting up a couple was Daniel Johnson.

Rd8 v Leeton- With Leeton running away to a 22-4 1/2 time lead it looked like the same old story against them but the boys rallied well in the 2nd half to turn it around to a 28-22 lead before letting Leeton in locking it at 28-28 with 5 to go. With only 2nds left Kurt Wilton took off near the line to score the match winner at 32-28 to cap off a great fightback and Yanco's 1st win against the Greens for a few years. P/P went to centre Damien Tangata.

Rd9 v Hay-bye
