WATER FOR PEOPLE (WFP)

is a non-profit organization located at Denver USA with the goal to help poor
people in developing countries to provide sustainable, safe drinking water.
A WATER FOR PEOPLE (WFP) project in West Bengal, India
is helping restore health and happiness to an area
plagued by illness due to arsenic in drinking water
supply.
It started with two WFP grants to Bengal Engineering
College funding the development and installation of
special hand-pump attached devices for arsenic
removal.
Since then with funding from WFP and other sources
about 13 hand pump attached arsenic removal units were
installed in various places of West Bengal. Recently
with funding from Conrad Hilton Foundation, Rotary
International Foundation, and Water For People and Das
Family Foundation, WFP raised about $ 180,000 for West
Bengal Project that will be conducted by WFP along with Bengal
Engineering College and Rotary Club of Calcutta –Golf
Green with the objective to install about 80 to 100
hand pump attached arsenic treatment unites in the
villages of West Bengal.
