NOTE: Make your revisions easily identifiable for your Marker by printing a hard copy of your essay and making the revisions in ink |

(yes, by hand). Then return to your computer to make final revisions. |

Editing: |
Editing and Proofreading involves checking and correcting the mechanics or conventions of writing. Try these techniques to find dreaded |
typos and annoying no-nos: |
1) Start at the end of your essay and read it backwards one sentence at a time. |
2) CHANGE sentences or words that do not make sense!! |
3) CORRECT spelling, punctuation, capitalization, verb tenses, grammar, and word usage (eradicate over-used words!) |
4) Read your edited essay aloud (to yourself or that helpful partner), listening for awkward or incomplete passages |
5) RE-READ your revised, edited, proofread essay one last time before preparing the Good Copy (breathe a sigh of relief!) |
