Kung Fu - My Way of Life

The Master sits across the room, delivering a short speech on the philosophy of Kung Fu. Lined up against the wall are a group of students anxiously preparing to take their black belt exam. The examination begins and as the Master calls out "Student Quang!", a young karateka emerges and walks toward the center of the room. Droplets of sweats well down his face and his nervous heart begins to pound like a hammer as he listens carefully to the instructions given by the Master.
"Test no. 1 of a black belt: Break 3 pieces of boards with a single punch."
He politely bowed to the Master then slowly glanced sideway and see three hard, thick layer of boards defiantly staring back at him as if to challenge him. He remembers his master once taught him,
"The mind is the most powerful source of energy. Believe in yourself and you can do anything you set your mind to do."
With this thought, he begins to calm down and fills his mind with total confidence. He takes a deep breath.....focus his eyes on the boards...counts to himself "One.....Two....Three......Kiaaaaaaaa!!!!!" With a flash of lightning punch, his powerful arm explodes through the 3 layers of boards like a rocket, smashing the boards and leaving them falling helplessly to the ground like dust.

That was me 8 years ago when I took my examination to become a certified black belt practioner. Although I don't practive martial arts anymore, I can still apply the many valuable lessons I learned from Master Mao. Martial arts discipline the character, develops the mental and physical strength and anyone can benefit tremendously with training in the Martial Arts.
