Magneto [current headmaster] reluctantly stays at the school as the X-Men rush to the scene. They find Callisto, chief Morlock, wounded but alive. The Marauders and X-Men battle, during which Nightcrawler is gravely injured. Colossus kills the mutant Riptide, and the Marauders retreat. Shadowcat, while saving Rogue, was hit by an energy spear of Harpoon's, and finds herself unable to become tangible. All but Wolverine leave the tunnels, who stays to capture a Marauder for interrogation.

New Mutants 46 (Mutant Massacre)

The X-Men arrive at the mansion, where the New Mutants assist in doctoring the injured. Magik retrieves Moira MacTaggart from Muir Isle, to help the fallen. Psylocke is also present (New Mutants Annual 2), helping to aid the wounded. Meanwhile the New Mutants deal with their feelings on the murdering taking place and the state of their injured friends.

X-Factor 10 (Mutant Massacre)

The Marauders continue their massacre as X-Factor attempt to get Rusty and Skids safely back to their complex. However they come across Arclight and Harpoon, and a skirmish erupts. The two Marauders decide they're not interested in continuing the battle and block the tunnel off. Angel and Jean get Rusty and Skids to the complex, while in the tunnels Cyclops, Beast, and Iceman continue battle with the Marauders. Eventually Jean and Angel return to help, and as they arrive, Cyclops is injured by Prism. Jean telekinetically lifts Prism and shatters him against a wall. The Marauders collapse this section as well and flee, and Angel goes off in search of Artie. The Marauders find him, however, and Harpoon impales each of his wings, and pins them to the tunnel wall.

Power Pack 27 (Mutant Massacre)

Leech shows up with Artie at the Power Pack's house, and they all go into the tunnels. The Pack battle Sabretooth and bury him in a pile of bricks. Right after this they encounter Wolverine, who tells them to get out any way they can. The kids then run into the other Marauders, and another battle takes place. The kids fare well, and X-Factor show up and scare the few Marauders off. Leech and Caliban are taken to the X-Factor complex, and the Power Pack go home. Jean Grey and Cyclops then go searching for Artie and Angel.

Thor 373-374 (Mutant Massacre)

Thor's frog friends [that he's able to communicate with, since he was transformed into a frog once] tell him about the events in the tunnels. He goes down to investigate, and finds Angel pinned to the wall as the Marauders surround him. Thor uses his hammer to scare them off.

They return right away. He uses his hammer to scare them off once again, and they don't return. He rescues Angel, and heads out of the tunnels. Blockbuster confronts Thor on his own this time, though, and Thor prevails. He brings Angel and Artie to Cyclops and Jean, and departs. As he's walking the tunnels, Hela, the Goddess of death shows up, and tells him that she'll never allow him to know the peace of death. Enraged, he sends a firestorm of lightning throughout the caverns with his hammer, as he screams.

Uncanny X-Men #212 (Mutant Massacre)

Colossus collapses at the mansion, weakened from the earlier battle in the tunnels. Storm runs wild in the woods near the mansion, devoured by self-pity at how she's done as leader of the X-Men. Magneto heals Colossus, but though healed, he cannot move his armored frame, nor transform into his human self. Wolverine battles Sabretooth in the tunnels, and caves in the tunnel, separating them. He finds the Morlock healer and brings him to the mansion. Callisto confronts Storm in the woods, and they talk. As Rogue finds Logan and the healer leaving the tunnels, Thor's blast of lightning scours the tunnels bare, and they narrowly escape.

X-Factor 11 (Mutant Massacre)

Renegade Morlock survivors attack X-Factor and the others. They all also barely avoid the lightning blast sweeping the tunnels, by rushing into the X-Factor complex. The renegade Morlocks take to the streets, where Scott and Jean attempt to stop them from causing trouble. Meanwhile Angel has been placed in the hospital.

Uncanny X-Men #213 (Mutant Massacre)

Callisto accuses Storm of causing the lightning blast which swept through the tunnels. The New Mutants have gone missing, as well as the Marauders, and the X-Men debate on how to find them, and what has happened to them. While the X-Men are in the tunnels, Rogue is attacked outside the Mansion by Sabretooth. He then gets into the Mansion and battles Psylocke. She is thoroughly injured by the time Wolverine and Storm arrive to reprieve her. Wolverine and Sabretooth engage in fierce battle, and Sabretooth is duped as Psylocke picks his mind while he's distracted by the brawl. Sabretooth jumps off a cliff into a river, but Wolverine attempts to follow. His determination is in vain, as Sabretooth escapes in the current, nowhere to be found. After her bravery and toughness while battling Sabretooth, Psylocke is asked to join the X-Men.
