| Safety First! Making the Car Safe for You |

What does it cost to Make the Car Safe for You? Well, if you have read this whole article, the rules basically say, that safety is optional. Below is the list of safety items that required for Enduro Racing:: 1) Helmet 2) Seat Belts 3) Roll Bar on Hard Tops 4) Fire Extinguisher 5) Window Bars 6) Sheet Metal on Firewalls. That's what this series is, a strip-it and race-it. Enduro Racing has changed over the last couple years. A racer used to bring in a car. Take off the chrome, knock out the glass, put on a helmet and go race. This works when you have a hundred cars on a 1/4" mile dirt track. Most Enduro Racecars are a little more now that they were a few years ago and I think safety is the reason. And it could be why we don't have the car counts that we had when I started. |

Just ask. Go to the pits start talking to the drivers and pit crews. Somebody always has something they may not need any more and are usally willing to sell it at a resonable price to help someone get started. Getting started racing is the hardest part. Most drivers are willing to help someone get started, they have all been there, done that! Also, check your local junkyard, swapmeets and newpapers for things that you need. Start picking up stuff that you need little by little. Safety is not cheap. But, as I've said "You've have family to go home to and you've got to go to work on Monday." What is that worth? |
