Neck Collar I write this section the day after we lose Dale Earnhardt. A neck collar would have not helped or maybe even a HANS device. We can't afford HANS devices for Enduro Racing. But at the speeds we run, I know a neck collar can make a difference. When, I totaled my red racecar, I hit a big T-bird very hard and then someone hit me. That hit was worse. I wasn't wearing my neck collar it wasn't comfortable. (Dale Earnhardt said the same thing about the HANS device.) My neck hurt for several days. Now, I don't race without it. There are two types of Neck Collars on is 360 degree collar and the other is a horseshoe. Both help prevent the whiplash effect on you neck in those sudden stops. The cost of a new Neck Collar is about $25 to $30. You can get these for go-kart racing but they many not have an SPF rating for fire safety. You just never know when you might need some of this safety stuff. And remember, you've got to go to work Monday morning. |
