Werewolf_26's AD&D Game
Here is a basic adventure/time line for Werewolf_26's Game.
- Start of game- In game time date is around January 1270. The PCs that enter the game are: Cain, level one human mage; Mythos, level one human fighter; Ian, level one elven theif. They enter the town at a location known as Dagger Point, a small mining town. The group is left behind as the town evacuates due to an oncoming Hobgoblin/goblin raid. The PCs take their time gathering various things from the town (robbing it) and then discovered why the town was empty. The PCs beat back the first wave of the assault, and make the Hobgoblins retreat. The town begins to repopulate, with several armed soldiers sent from the local lord to protect the village. With the town safely secured, the guards leave, and the PCs stay. The PCs go and attack the Hobgoblins, provoking another raid, which end in the townspeople feeling, the PCs running, and the surrender of the town to the forces of the Hobgoblins and goblins.
- Several Months later, April-June 1270-The Party found themselves in the small border town of Ketcot. The small wooden walled town served as a nice place for the PCs to visit. Cain studied for several weeks at an adventurers home, whilst the rest of the party went to investigate the happenings around a particular mountain, Mount Tarna, which laid to the village's North West. A paladin, with very forgettable name, joined up as well as a psionic elf named Jenny. There was also a Druid that join in the group. They party ventured into the mountain, getting hit with traps and undead repeatedly. The party eventually closed on a group of evil priests in the heart of the mountain. The paladin was put at risk to get near the head priest (without his consent or knowledge). The PCs stole the priest's magical (and cursed) mask and then ran from the mountain (riding shields like sleds). Mythos had the mask on and he disappeared for several sessions.
- June 1270-The Siege of Ketcot: Due to the PCs attacking Mt. Tarna, the evil priests and other creatures at the mountain raised an army (1000 something) of undead creatures. These creatures came to attack the town. However, due to the PCs expecting this action, and scouting parties, the village knew ahead of time. They spent a few weeks preparing traps and fortified the town. The battle was joined, and the Villagers won due to the bravery and skill of the PCs.
- July-August 1270-Cain and Jenny, and a un-named bladesinger. picked up a follower, a warrior named Organic. These 3 went into a small town with Ian, and soon after the discovery of a small tavern for sale, Ian was retiring for a little while. The four PCs met the areas Countess, who lived in Caslte Vinter, in the large city of Vinter, and was framed for attempted assassination. It turned out that the castle's officials were being magically controled into doing things, like becoming witnesses against them. The PCs at this time, were hunted by a visiting Japanese group of ninjas, due to their lords direction. Cain infiltrated these ninjas, and killed a handfull of them. They also met a swashbuckling NPC that aided them in equipment and minor combats. They confronted the controling force, and found it was some kind of necklace with an emerald on it. Mythos also reappeared, but didn't have the mask this time. However, he did have a follower, a necromancer. At the final confrontation of the force, they found that it was in league with several other evil creatures, including a black dragon and a rider of the dragon, who came to the castle to pick up the mask. The PCs destroyed the mask, and escaped, but didn't kill any of the attackers.
- August 1270-April 1272: Due to the assassin accusation that was going around, Cain, Jenny, and Organic were sent to Japan, to act as diplomats to secure a fortress for the Countess on the far eastern island. After several months travel, the group came to the main Island, and after a few tests, were given permission to explore a coastal island to see if it was fit for their use. The Group (which is begining to be their parties title) began to explore the Island, and after a short visit, Organic died at the hands of a watery spirit. At that time, a local rogue, named Jin, happened upon The Group. Cain quickly enlisted the rogue's help in finishing exploring the island. They found that there was a rather grisly undead creature holding the watery spirit in this plane, making it unknowingly kill males that approached it. The Group lead an assault against the creature, and due to its own arrogance, blew itself, Cain, Jenny, and Jin up in a massive ball of fire. Cain and Jin awoke on the shore of the beach, with a friend they made on the ride to the island. A dragon (polymorphed into human form) named Stephen (to humans). This dragon raised them because of their attempted act of good, which freed the spirit trapped on the island. Stephen then gave them permission to use his island for their fortress. Cain and Jin soon sailed back to Castle Vinter.
- May 1272: The Entering of "The Keep of Darkness". Ian, Mythos, Marilyn (a dwarven fighter/mage), Cain, and a halfing thief went to investigate a location that someone reported grave robbings at. They found some spell-casters that attacked them, and though they won, Due to Cain's magic, the party had to retreat.
- June 1272: The Party reformed and re-equipped. Mythos, Cain, Marilyn, and Ian raided the area. The party was wounded again due to an ambush, at which Cain FIREBALLed a pair of wizards in the distance, falling for a trap. The enemy wizards then FIREBALLed the party and killed the halfling theif and the Necromancer. After the blast, a Bard that was traveling their direction ran to see if he could help. The party camped out and continued to advance in the graveyard area. They found a rather large encampent with a small village outside the graveyard. Cain and Marilyn used their magics to get the party at the gate, whilst the rest of the PCs broke into the wall of the fort and attacked the soldiers inside. The Group proceeded into the deserted town, searched the village, and found a rather large tunnel in the town hall. Mythos and the bard rode a shield down the tunnel, along with Marilyn. Cain and Ian walked slowly down the tunnel. Marilyn fell off the shield and was seperated from Mythos and the bard. They proceeded at an extremely high speed down the tunnel, and crashed at the end of it. After several minutes, the party formed back together, and found an underground location overrun with undead creatures. In their escape, Ian was paralyzed and left behind, eaten by ghasts and ghouls. The party took with them out of this place an elf mage named Morindim.
- June-September 1272: The Tower: Cain decided to spend his money on buying a tower. He found that one was already built in a small off-set area not too far from the village of Vinterfarm and a quick ride to Vinter. The land cost him 10,000 gold, which he paid to a family that lived out on the border of the towers land. The PCs moved into the tower, and quickly had the tower stocked with foods and furniture. At this point, they heard several howls and coming from outside of their tower. Eventually, they went to investigate, and found that there were werewolves in the area.
After several battles with the canines, and several REMOVE CURSE spells later, the werewolves still claimed Jin's life. He was CARBON FROZE so they could resurrect him later. .
- October 1272: Night of the Dragon: After their last encounter with the werewolves, the werewolves seemed to move on to safer hunting ground. The Black Dragon, Metalwrath, attacked the tower with his companion rider. During this encounter, most of the interior of the tower was destroyed, as well as the death of Mythos, and near death of Cain. Marilyn took them to the temple afterwards to get them healed and resurrected. At this point, Cain took up an ambassadorship in the far east. At this time, Crowvax of Radicon, a friend of Cain's, came to join the party in Cain's absence.
- November 1272: Jin was thawed and healed up. The Group then traveled to aid a group of people that were under attack by a group of ogres and orcs. It was actually a plot to lure The Group out and destroy them. The Group attacked and fought with the band of ogres and orcs, which were lead by some dark soldier. It came to a stand still losing many functions of the PCs (broken bones and wounds) and 2 squads of the enemies troops. The Group group retreated and decided to wait out the winter months and train some other adventurers. For the next 6 months, they train two parties of adventurers.
- May 1273: The Group left the town of Vinterfarm with one of the two parties they trained. The other party caused trouble and stole various things in town, and The Group was persuing them. They followed the party to a strong hold in the north, with orcs throughout it. After surviving various tricks and traps, The Group confronted the other party and quickly defeated it. However, The Group also found a leader behind their actions, and orcish vampire. The Vampire almost completely destroyed The Group's trainee's, and gave chase to the fleeing group. He chased them back into town.
- June 1273: Crowvax and the rest of The Group are charged with creating a keep on the eastern border of the kingdom. There is a rumor of an invading army. The Group travels for the six months out to the border and began construction of the keep. After several additional months, the army was prepared.
- May 1274: The Group rules Borderkeep with little problems. Cain is sent for and he arrives with Stephen. Around this time, the enemy army is sighted. The party, at this time, also meet a necromancer by the name of Victon (Victor) Darkbind. The necromancer is accompanied by a flesh golem, Mythos Griktor (the chest cavity was salvaged from the body of the recently deceased PC Mythos). The enemy army showed up soon after. There is a tremendous battle, with a Metalwrath showing up with his rider. The enemy army tried various tactics to get cross the river infront of Borderkeep; swimming across, floating across, until they dammed the river. They used several ice spells to freeze the river up and stop its flow. Marilyn flew up to the dam via the "Fly" spell and nuked it with several "Flame Missle" spells, melting the river, just as the goblins reached the opposite bank of the river. Marilyn slew a legion by himself. The next tactic was to use catapults, with bundled trolls (4-6 of them) in a tight group over Borderkeep's walls. Much fighting was done, and the Rider got off Metalwrath and fought with the PCs, Ending in the near death of the Archer, another death of Jin, and the UNdeath of the Rider. Borderkeep held.
- June 1274: The Group in persuit of the rider, went off into the plains, and tracked him for several days. They eventually found the dark knight, kneeling in a grassy plain. The party confronted him, and despite The Group's efforts, the party was slain. Several (hours, months?) later, the party that could be resurrected was lying in the scorched battle ground with their ally Steven caring for them. He had yet again resurrected the party from complete destruction. After this brief encounter though, Steven and Jin were to leave for Japan once again, to hopefully be undisturbed for some time.
- June 1274: The Group was buckling down for some retirement for a brief period. However a few problems arose that had to be taken care of. This interrupted Jin's plans of returning to Japan at the moment. 3 Sisters needed The Group and several other established NPC heroes to eliminate some rather nasty giants for them, because it was a threat to the safety of travelers in the area. The Group and the party of NPCs feasted one night at the sisters lodge and then proceeded to the ruins the Giants were located at. The Group was attacked by some villanious undead Giants before they could reach the ruins, and this killed many of the NPCs in the party. Soon the party and The Group enclosed upon the giants. There were three of them present. A vicious battle ensued, which ended in the archers' death (ripped in half by a giant). More undead giants attacked The Group immediately after the battle. These creatures were defeated and the party and The Group rejoiced. They soon returned to the lodge to tell the sisters of their victory to find that the Sisters were truely Hags that had been using The Group to destroy a rival in the area for control of the region. The Group attacked and assaulted the hags, killing all but one, who escaped barely.
- July 1274: A splinter of The Group travel south to the outlying village of Farsfield. Here, they begin to investigate the rumor of strange beings visiting the local plantation owner's daughter in the middle of the night. After a brief encounter, The Group decides that the people in question are vampires. They send for the rest of the party. They show up a few days later with a few NPCs that are hunting for a vintner named Haradrin. The PCs set a trap for the vampires, and find out who is one and where they are hiding. After waiting a sufficient time, the PCs destroy the vampires by sunlight. Until that time, the local gypsies were blamed for the disappearances and deaths. The gypsies turned out to be werewolves (so the town's folk weren't that far off).
- August 1274: The Group continues to investigate things going on in Farsfield. Haradrin the vintner is under strong suspicion of being a vampire, but it hasn't been proven. All of their evidence is purely circumstantial. They spend several days, eating and drinking and conversing with the wine seller and maker, trying to get him to divulge information to whether or not he's a vampire. One evening while he is away, his cousin Cassandra plays a game of riddles with The Group and then hurries them off to bed. Later that night, Cassandra goes to Cain and charms him into following her deeper into the mansion. She leads him to a sacrificial table, at which she intends to make him a vampire. The Group however, does not sleep heavily and followed them down there. In a great show of concern for their ally Cain, The Group fights valiantly to save Cain from the clutches of Cassandra, but they again fail to slay their nemisis. She calls forth Werewolves, which attacked the party trying to leave the mansion. Through the use of great magics however, the party floated high above what the werewolves could reach, and in the bright of day demolished the mansion, but found no trace of Cassandra.
- January 1275: The Group successfully traveled back to the small village of Vinterfarm and began to get in some down time.
To Be continued when something jogs my memory as to what happened next...
