How much does it cost to have a web site built?

It depends on whether you want a static site or a dynamic site. A dynamic site will obviously cost a lot more. A static web page will typically cost you about a 100 euros, but sometimes even more. A large amount of graphic work again increases the cost of a web page. But then not many serious web designers actually demand a fixed rate. This is because the need varies between one client and the other. A serious designer will therefore fix the sum only after he has gone through the client requirements. Yes there are quite a lot who have fixed prices ranging from a 100 to 150 euros but should you consider them you are perhaps being less particular.

Is it better to get a dynamic page built or a static one?

A static page is always better than a dynamic page. A page containing an elaborate and expensive Flash animation might seem attractive to a new visitor to the site but soon turns out to be an irritant since it takes up too much time both in terms of download and display. Therefore if it isn't urgent don't go for a dynamic page. Stick to a good static page. But then if you really want to have a dynamic page or if your boss has told you to get one then get one that has a lesser animation and make sure the designer has given the visitor the option to skip the intro. Also try not to have a site with too many images or elaborate graphics for they take up too much time to download. Information, we believe, should be fast. Therefore skip the unnecessary gimmicks.

How do I go about promoting my site?

Promotion is a matter of specialisation. A lot of it depends on the site itself. Meta-tags are just one of the things that facilitate proper search engine indexing of a web page. There are many other factors that go to help in better indexing of a site. If you have choosen a good designer then these factors would be already there built into your site. You don't have to worry about them. You will have to promote your site by submitting them to the many search engines on the net. Each have their own ways of indexing and a good designer would know of them. Sites can be submitted manually or with free programmes available on the net. You can either pay for your site to be submitted or take the free option. This site has been submitted using a free site submission service.

What happens after I have chosen a web designer?

Once you have finalised your designer he will ask you for the details regarding the site such as the matter to be put in it. Apart from that we will ask you to define the objectives of your business/company, your clients, your ideals especially the ones around which your business has been created. This is done keeping in tune with our validity aspect of web designing. Once all the details has been obtained by the designing firm you will be told the sum that it would cost you and you will be required to pay an advance of about 25% of the total cost of the project to the designer. Then the designer will, as we do, probably send you a few screenshots for you to decide on. Screenshots are the images of the various page designs that the design teams have come up with. Once you have intimated your choice to them the designing work will start. Several ammendments later when your site would be ready they would be loaded into a floppy or a CD and sent to you by courier. You will be then required to send in the remaning designing charges. Some web designing firms also provide for web hosting and you can pay them to host your site with them. We provide hosting services using a third party.

How long does it take for the designing to be completed?

Depending on how much designing has to be done it can take anything between a week to a whole year. A short web site containing about 10-15 static pages can be well completed in about a week's time. Flash animation takes more time and so does creating graphic images. Sites containing much of them will take more time. Your designer will give you an estimate and he will usually try his best to stick to it.
