Welcome to The Lass's Lair . . . Within these pages, you'll discover a sampling of my writing. There are links to friends' pages, old and new, to writing resources, to genealogy sites loaded with information. And my favorite page... my sweet bonny Scotland sites.

For a wee bit about me . . .

I've been an Arizona desert lass for over fourteen years, originally from Arkansas. While southern born and bred, I grew up in Northern Indiana, and went to college in Utah. But my soul and heart belong to Scotland. I've been told I was born centuries too late in the wrong place.

I had a number of short stories and poetry published in my high school's publication, "The Rusty Pump." But, my creativity ended up on the backburner in a hectic college life. The flame was re-lit when after publishing several articles in the Greater Phoenix West Coast Swing Dance Club newsletters people came up and asked for more.

One of my passion sis genealogy -- family history. While I started looking to find that elusive Scot, who I know must have left me this yearning for his homeland, I've found more information than I'd imagined and relatives (live and dead) that I didn't know existed. In the past few months, I've gained a very dear friend and mentor, two grand aunts and a great grand aunt. Next thing you know, I'll be haunting the cemeteries and old courthouses. No, I'm not seeing dead people... but... I think they're beginning to talk to me <eg>

My newest obsession (we Sags are known for our obsessions) is teaching myself Gàidhlig, the ancient language of the Scots that a few are trying to keep from becoming extinct. A complicated language that takes years to master, I look forward to being to speak it (abeit with a strange accent) when I make my trip to Scotland.

I received my first horse when I was nine years old after several years of lessons. A sad point in my life was when I had to sell my gelding, Treaty, when I went off to college. There I was involved with the college's horse program and within a short time, found myself managing a 100 plus head Arabian horse farm. I worked professionally as a horse trainer for eight years at several different farms. Arabians for the most part -- specializing in the nuts, fruits, and flakes. The inside joke was if no one else wanted them, give them to Ginger. Unfortunately, this isn't currently a part of my life.

I've worked for attorneys, doctors, and psychologists, and currently work in the IT department of a large business consulting firm.  Just marking time until a book (or two) hits the best seller list and I can buy this quaint little Scottish castle I have my eye on. What do you think?
