Valentines W.A.R.
WAR Scale = 7
Yep i'm rating the holiday. Getting a seven on the war scale was pretty good. People have made pretty good points to me about V-Day so i decided to do a WAR on this. What do you think of when you think of V-Day? Probably hearts, chocolate, lots of redness, and flowers. Oh yeah, and then there's the person you happen to love/like. (if you are one of the people who think about the other person first, i congradulate you.)
Lol the reason that Valentines scored so high was because of the many people who actually cherish it, because it gives them a nice excuse to do something special for they're loved/liked ones. Gives you that perfect excuse to do that one special thing for him/her, and it adds a nice touch to your plans. It gives it that specialness, the "Happy Valentines Day Sweety" and the nice sunset, two people, special holiday, people leaning on each other and enjoying the day. The *sigh* romanticness, a nice little dream in the world of everyday life. But, that's 1 case out of a million heartbroken: "I wish..." people.
Truly, Valentines Day has become either "Singles Awareness Day" or "Commercial Heaven Day". I mean the diamond company says, "Show your loved one something they'll truly love." OUCH. Meaning all the nice dinners, conversations, and what not are worthless, i mean even YOU the giver of the diamond is worthless. Maybe a better slogan would be, "Buy your love!"
Ok, lets look at it from the teenager's perspective. How ever hard we deny it, the truth remains. It's still commercialized. Yes, i understand you people who say that you did something special for your liked ones and didn't care about whatever (believe me, i'm one of you people and i'm sure we can find a couple of people truly sincere and stuff, like most of my friends) But majority states that, "Go Big, Get Bragging rights." I walked around school and heard conversations in classes it was like: "Hey, look at what my BF got me!"
But like i said there are people who do things truly sincerely. And its for those people that i raised the raiting. Its for the people that goes, "taking the whole day off for him/her and doing whatever he/she wants, heaven only knows that i don't do it enough."
People should actually remember what V-Day is about, not: "Hmmm, chocolates or roses?" and trust me i got trapped into that commercialized world until a few friends knocked me into my senses. It should be, "Wow, this is the perfect holiday to DO something special for my liked/loved one" not "Ooh, chocolates and roses and maybe a card, oh and him/her"
So next time you go out to do something special for that loved/liked one. Consider this: "Is this Commercial or Personal." I know i will, cause it was so close this time in being commercial. (Thanks for the people on the phone and online going "your an idiot wei" lol stuff like that)
