Tuesday, July 10, 1888

Mary and I went down to Hurts to a party on the hand car.

Miss Laura Hurt. (whom I got acquainted with the fourth) was

there. We went out and swung in the hammock and I hugged

and kissed her it being the second time that I saw her.

Sunday, July 22, 1888

Mary and I went down to Hurts and I went to church with Laura

and we went over and sat in their new house awhile.

Sunday, August 05, 1888

J.V.G. Hurt came up here and we went as far as Oak Park

with them. It was the first time they were ever up here.

Sunday, August 12, 1888

Lizzie was jealous.

Lizzie Hurt came up here yesterday. We went up to Oak Park

to meet Nancy. There was church at our house today. The

Hurt Bros. were up and I went down with them to see Lucile

(Laura). I like her better every time I see her. Lizzie says she

is a flirt, and I am going to find out if she is or not. I believe

that she likes me pretty well.

Saturday, August 25, 1888

Hilda, Mary and I went down to Santiago to camp meeting the

first one that we were ever to. I took Laura. I said that I

would try to be a Christian from this one and I hope that God

will help me to be one.
