Wednesday, July 31, 1889

Lizzie Hurt came up here this morning. I had not saw her for

six months. Was glad to see her again. She said I should

come down and see her. She said that Laura would try and

get me to go with her, if I come down. But I will fool her, I am

going to see Lizzie this time. Got acquainted with Miss Lizzie

Bogart

Thursday, August 01, 1889

Mr. & Mrs. Hurt, Laura and Miss Bogart came in here and

said that our neighbor Mrs. Edwards was dead so we all got

ready and went to the funeral. "Poor Etta" will have a hard

time of it [ Had to be Mother to 4 youngsters years after I

would lose my wife and had little children ] now that her

mother is gone. I fell awful sorry for her. Coming home Laura

and I came very near quarreling, I told her what I thought of a

girl that would go with every one that came along.

Saturday, August 03, 1889

Mrs. Sylvester, ?? & Nellie and Kate came here tonight. The

Sylvesters had not been here for two years. I think that the

girls have improved very much in that time.

Sunday, August 04, 1889

The last time I saw her.

Frank came down on the hand car this morning and staid all

day, we had lots of fun. They all went away on the car again.

Electra was burned in the Chicago Theater fire.
