Kelly Flinn--Air Force Adultery
Was the Air Force Justified in Its Actions Against Kelly Flinn? This is a situation I am having a lot of difficulty in dealing with. I have a problem with Kelly Flinn being forced to resign or face court-martial because of an affair she had. Was the affair wrong? Yes. But how many other officers out there have had affairs? Many. How many have been punished? Very few. In fact, I think that this is a case of a double standard. It is a crime punishable when it is a female breaking the code, but it is nothing when a male has broke the rules of conduct. Case in point is another situation going on in the Air Force. A male officer had an affair with a female officer. She was completely unaware he was married. Once she found out, she broke it off; however, she was pregnant with his child. He had his charges dropped, as did she, but now the Air Force has charged her with a variety of crimes related to the adultery including being AWOL when she was giving birth to her baby. I wouldn't have a problem with policies in the Armed Forces against adultery if it was handled fairly. But that doesn't seem to be the case.
