Suggested Readings for
Recovery
I debated strongly for a while whether or not to include this page on my website. I did not want to give the impression that I was trying to make money from those survivors who visit my page by getting into a partnership with Amazon.com, but yet at the same time I wanted to give them suggested reading while at the same time offering a handy place to obtain those books. Part of the recovery process I feel is reading what others have written, and finding therapy within recovery books is a start, especially if you do not feel comfortable in getting proffesional help yet. These books in no way is a substitute for the real support a counselor can provide, but it is a starting place and a great help.
I must add a disclaimer to these books I have chosen to include here. I have not yet read them myself, but I have read the blurbs on the Amazon.com page and plan to get them for myself to read. As soon as I have read them, I will include a personal review for each of these books.
Any profits that I receive from being an associate with Amazon.com will go to R.A.I.N.N.

Synopsis and Reviews

When God Doesn't Make Sense
                     by James, Dr. Dobson

This beautiful gift book is based on Dr. Dobson's bestseller of the same
title. It is a meaningful way to express love and sympathy to anyone
suffering loss and asking the tough "why" questions.

Review: Catherine Reiman, NJ, USA , 02/12/98
Inspiration for those facing life's difficulties/tragedies.
I found this book to be inspiring in allowing us to see that God does not
turn His back on us in times of trouble. Dr. Dobson answers the
questions about why bad things happen and how we can reconcile these
events with our view of God as our loving and concerned Father.

I am also reading this one at this time. I will let you know what I think of it, but I am pretty sure it will all be good! -Tearjerker

The Emotional Rape Syndrome: How to Survive and Avoid It
                     by Michael Fox

The author, Michael Fox http://www.flash.net/~mikefox , 03/16/97
                     Synopsis of Book
The first of its kind, this pioneering book is about identifying and
preventing emotional rape -- the use of someone's higher emotions, such
as love, without consent. Emotional rape is commonly found, but not
limited to, male/female relationships. Unlike physical rape, victims of
emotional rape can be both men and women. The Emotional Rape
Syndrome defines emotional rape and explores specific steps (and
pitfalls) in recovery. Self-defense and other related topics are also
                     discussed.
