        GRATITUDE

There is an early morning light

As the sun kisses the stars hello

I can hear the winged ones stirring

        >From their slumber peaceful yet

I can out my window see the dawn

And Mother Nature as she awakes

A perfect day, a perfect time to reflect and pray

A prayer of gratitude for I am blessed

The road I’ve traveled so often alone

Had intent and purpose tho’ I did not know it

And I thank the Creator so invisible to some

For all of the lessons and the heart these have given me

For as my heart has again filled with hope

I pray gratitude for your visibility to me

I am grateful for your guidance

I am grateful for your love

Please continue to grant me peace

Please continue to grant me wisdom and truth

Please watch over those I love

And please watch over my enemies too

Please continue to guide me with your gentle touch

Please help me feel and touch you in return always

I am so grateful for my gifts

I am honoured to be a part of all of this

        Thank you

        TRUE BLUE

He walks his path straight and true

and he has walked his path for me and you

He has walked in faith and hope and love

though encountering much not from heaven above

On a sunlit street or in an alley dark was he

risk his life, of coarse, he knew it had to be

Encountering others lives that were so bleak

that advantage had been taken of the very weak

Yet there he stood so strong and tall

and far too many times faced the wall

A wall of bleakness where the lost tend to run

the wall of bleakness that there's no escape from

For when the lost do run to that wall

you could close your eyes and hear a call

He has heard this deep and sorrowful cry

and he has witnessed parts of humanity die

He chose this path so very long ago

for he needed to answer that call of woe

He needed to provide what others could not

that running to the wall he wanted to stop

He understood when he saw them all

fearful and trembling up against that wall

That theirs was a need to regain control

and that they were nothing but lost pure souls

But yet they had made others' lives unsafe

with their wanderings in that darkened place

This cannot be the only way he cries

you must be rescued even if we die

Rescued from whom do you need to ask

rescued from yourselves and your bleak past

Now you must come away from the wall

assume the position or I'm afraid you'll fall

I will take you where you can't hurt others

Or try to instill more fear in your brothers

I will pray for you each and every day

And trust that you may find your way...

He walks his path straight and true

And he has walked his path for me and you

Inspired by and written for Brian Hartman,

whom, I thank God every day, has not been taken,

"in the line of duty" as he walks his path

        for me and you.
