Gitahy Medeiros is the username of Regina Maria Medeiros Luz, born in S. Luiz - MA, Brazil, and settled down in Rio de Janeiro city since her childhood, where she was educated. She had Medical Graduation in the Universidade Federal Fluminense - UFF in 1970 and post-graduated in Cardiology wich she has been practicing until the present day. She studied English obtaining the proficiency with Michigan Certificate, and she studied French obtaining proficiency with Nancy II Certificate (literary studies). In 1985, she begins to write, initially by attraction or diletantism, this activity coming to be considered one of her passions. She is divorced, has a son and a daugther - universitarian young persons - and a graceful grandchild! Presently, she lives in Niterói and in Nova Friburgo - RJ - alternatively, where she also practices her profession in an intense rhythm of work, the reason by wich she has less time to write than she would like to. She won the first prize in poetry of the Literary Contest of the Brazilian Society of Physician Writers - SOBRAMES - in 1999.
