Poetry by Tari Price

Annie

She weaves a barricade
of moonlight
gathers the silver strands
from the night wind
no one
comes near

Nimae to Merlinus
She would love the snow owl
and the tiny black bird
and men
bore their lusts
and inspirations alike
then slipped into shadow
a dream
on their sleeping brow

a memory
of one who moved like
quick silver
and wept silent tears

She is many women
She is one child
A silver unicorn
searching for the well of sleep
in love's arms...

Merlinus sleeps
so
she weaves a coverlet
of dreams

Home

I've always understood you
This stranger does now

She loves you
some part of her will
always love you

But the punches hurt less this way
and indifference can be
such a powerful weapon
against the uptown assholes out there
the ones who want to take your mind
or wreck your health
see you squirm
like a rabbit on a hot grid

And God,
I wish I knew where home was

I think perhaps
I lost the notion of what home was
long ago....
When they took me away
from Apple blossoms

I've been wandering
a long, long time...

Looking for something soft and familiar
something sweet and good
but every where I turn
I see only myself
.... a clown
in white paint
and what a pathetic figure I make
I understand you....
