I was just reading your great site Australian Pioneer Families. You list Alexander GENTLES b. 1859 married to Sarah Campbell Ferguson. I can't find him elsewhere on the list. Who were his parents? Regards,

Hello Elizabeth, I have just been looking at your site re the Gentles and have a query for you...
Are you saying that Thomas Gentles b 1839 was the son of John Gentles and Agnes Orr, and that he married Anne Houghton? (this family is above - John Gentles)
I have a different take on this Thomas Gentles.
His parents are Alexander Gentles and Jane Arthur.
Thomas Gentles arrived in Australia 1853 on the Jane Geary aged 19 years.
He married Anne Houghton and he died 1895 in Keilor Melbourne.
Can you please confirm with me on this....
