Harris

From Mary Metcalf Blight was born in St Austel Cornwall her parents were Henry Blight and Jane Penall. She came to Australia with her mother and sister (Ian Howie Willis has a lot more information on this family) she married Joseph Harris(parents James and Mary Anne Nicholas) in Creswick Victoria in 1852 . They had 6 children and at some point Joseph left the family and Mary was left to raise the family and run a business in Creswick. She died in Creswick Victoria in 1895, Joseph died in Kew in 1889

Hi Elizabeth, my John Hooton b c1804 Stony Stratford, Buckinghamshire, tried and transported to Tasmania in 1822 [18 years old] and married Sarah Ferguson in 1840 and had a son John b 1841 in Hobart. The son John Hooton married Margaret Qualey in 1863 in Geelong and died in 1903 age 62.
He is not related to the John Hooton on the Equestrian.
