I came upon your info re Australian Pioneer families, this is part of my husbands ancestors, except some of your info appears a little different to mine. My Joseph Waters isn’t from Cornwall but from Kent, and Elizabeth Ann Stephens I have quoted on one document as being from St Ives in Cornwall. I have been tracing this family for years and just need proof of where Elizabeth was actually born, as you would know its not stated on the marriage cert in SA. I have also researched in Cornwall, and feel I know who her parents where, but don’t want to link them up until I have more conclusive proof.

We are descended from daughter Louisa Waters who married Peter McNally Farish, there were 11 children,

5. Louisa Waters 1861 #14133 wed 1881 #4737 to Peter McNally Farish 1861 #15739 born at Lexton
4 Children 1. Helen (Ellen) Elizabeth Farish 1882 #13811 - 1884 #7890 lived 22 months
2. Margaret Jane Farish 1884 #14567
3. James Anderson Farish 1886 #7537
4. Mary Louisa Farish 1887 #25532
7. Jane Waters 1865 #18843 wed 1884 #2744 to George Wood born in England
3 Children 1. James George Theodore Wood 1886 #2386
2. Ruby May Wood 1887 #12020

Hello Elizabeth, I have just been surfing looking for further information on my husbands family history and I came apon your entrance for Waters on your Pioneers site I am researching the Waters line, George Rutledge Waters, was born in 1824 Hampshire England and died in Naracoorte South Australia, he married Mary Jane Harris in 1852 at Dundas Stn, Victoria she was born in 1833 Dublin Ire, she died in Apsley Vic in 1911

They had a son Mark Henry Waters who died in 1930 at St Arnaud in Victoria,

I have often wondered if there is a connection between your Waters and mine as some of mine went to Kerang and Alexander and Bendigo and also St Arnaud but most have died in either SA or Hamilton area of Victoria
Have you ever come across any connection? I know the Rutledge ( Routledge ) name comes down the line, George Rutledge Waters was a Bullock Driver, and his son Mark was a shearer
cheers Lesley

Ps I was wondering what your connection to the Tarnagulla area was, as we have a link to Waanyarra and Tarnagulla also.

Hello Elizabeth,
I have been reading your Australian Pioneer Families entry on the Watson family. Laura Stella Watson married Joseph Campey in 1878, as stated on your page. However, while your page says there were no children, there were in fact 3 boys born to the couple. The sons were:
William John Taylor Campey born October 1880 in Murrumburrah, NSW
Alfred Joseph Henry Campey born March 1882 in Murrumburrah, NSW
George Harden Campey born March 1884 in Harden, NSW.

Joseph Campey was a railway worker based at Harden / Murrumurrah near Young in NSW. He was killed in a railway accident near Cootamundra, NSW in 1885. His three sons all became railway workers.
Laura Stella Watson remarried in 1890 in Young, NSW to Thomas Miller, another railway worker. They had 5 children, 2 daughters and three sons. Their eldest daughter was my grandmother.
If you would like any further information, please let me know.
Kind regards, Gail Macqueen

Henry divorced Alice, children you have belong to George Wiffen and Alice Mary Jackson

At this stage I believe and have absolutely no proof, Thomas Wiffen married 1856 to Alice is the child of Henry 1808 and Amy (Emma) ARNOLD who definitely had another child William born 1842. Henry 1808 was born Finchingfield, Essex, ENG and is the son of Thomas and Susanna WIFFEN.
