so i'm watching the 'tonight show with jay leno' a bit carelessly monday night when i hear him go to commercial with the words "when we come back, actor jet li joins us, and coming up traci lords will be performing for us." traci lords? traci lords is cool! and she's finally going to be performing some new songs? cool!
so i hang on and watch molly shannon drool over jet li and i swoon at his kung fu dancing and all while waiting for the next commercial before traci lords is due to come on. jay leno comes back on and starts to introduce... country-singer traci lords? at this point i'm mouth wide open trying to figure out since when traci decided to switch to country, and much less succeed at it... camera switches and focues on...
...a pudgy bearded man in plaid and hat named Tracy Lawrence.
of course, comparing the two i'm sure you can see what an easy mistake it was...:

tracy lawrence? traci lords?
okay, i'm off to donate blood, and later tonight i'm hoping to see a real live nun for the first time. (the nun they modelled susan sarandon's character after in dead man walking is speaking at unc. it's free, and i'm intruiged. hopefully we'll get in.) gooooooo blood donating!
Update:
well, i went to the union, filled out my paperwork and waited and waited... sat down to have them check my blood pressure, temperature and iron/red bloodcell count checked and...
I WAS REJECTED!
a little slip of paper told me "Thanks so much for trying to give blood today. Unfortunately, you will not be able to donate blood today because your hematocrit was below the acceptable level required by the Red Cross for a blood donor. Your hematocrit today is 35%. Red Cross requires a minimum level of 38% for blood donors. Please Try Again."
bah. i'm not letting that stop me, though! when i get home i'm going to pop an iron pill and make something with lentils. i'll be back tomorrow, bah. rejected. pah. i did manage to get typed for bone marrow donating, though, so the hour wasn't completely wasted. bah. rejected. pah.
ah well. there's stilla chance i'll get to see the nun tonight. very excited. a real nun! woo! till another time - bye.
