I finished it. My ten-page research paper, that is. I called it "Then and Now in Movie Promotion - Gone With the Wind." It was surprisingly fun to write it, too. Well, after the 4 day writing block ended, that is. I basically told of how Gone With the Wind was publicized and promoted back in 1939, and then I devoted the latter half to creating a fake promotional campaign for Gone With the Wind today, 1999.

Aah, the joy of getting to invent trailers and tag lines. My imaginary teaser trailer consisted of a 5 second clip of intense flames and then a black screen with the words "Atlanta Will Burn on December 15, 1999") I also described the generic planted rumour that the leading actors had had a passionate romance that ended so bad they almost weren't able to finish filming the whole thing - the rumour made it into aaaall the gossip magazines.

Enough, though. It is done. No more having to get up ay 6 am every morning to get to the lab early enough to sit in agony with writer's block in front of a computer.

Alas. I must leave early. I got my very first pay check yesterday for working as a lab monitor - $170! WooHoo! I am now off to attempt to cash it. The cash are to be used to see a matinee showing of Go with Gene, and around midnight tonight an Andrew is picking me up to go see a performance of Rocky Horror Picture show in Raleigh (Joseph is his older brother and runs the spot light).

[run downstairs, miss the bus, come back up to write some more.]

Hmm. Odd. As I ran to the elevator I yelled to Dr Evans (the advisor that drives me home every so often) "Here are the two books you lent me for the paper!" -"I Have a book for you too!" And as I run by he hands me Leonard Maltin's TV, Movies & Video guide from 1989. I yelled thanks, stuffed it in my bag whilst in the elevator and now.. I'm a bit puzzled. I finished my paper - did he not know and thought I could use it, OR did he decide to just give it to me because I'm a movie freak? *shrug*

As he drove me home last night we had a fiery discussion about..Titanic. And then There's Something About Mary. Eventually I just had to say the classic "You don't have to like *every* movie, y'know :P" and sulk somewhere. And I think I need to learn how to not get really weird in friendly arguments and stick to my simple "Because I said so, Well I don't care" attitude that pops out whenever I'm 'defending' movies or whatever.

Oh. No no no. No reason for the heart. It just needed to be shown, I suppose. MmMm. I'm already dreaming of next week - my fingers want to type lots and lots to this thing, temporary ad ridden diary or not. Feel love. Bye.

11 p.m. Friday Night - UNC Student Union.
---

So hmm the plans changed a bit or something. I'm not going to The Rocky Horror Picture Show tonight - I simply wasn't up to it and I called Andrew and he was allright with it so that was that.

What I have been up to since? Hmm, okay let's see.. as I ran to catch the bus at 2.30 pm I remembered to ask my advisor about the book he'd thrown to me as I was leaving - it turns out it was a gift, he'd found an extra copy of it when he was cleaning out his books. Yey. Now I have a nice, handy collection of reviews etc of every movie leading up to 1989 - go 80's!!

I get to the bus stop aand wait.. and wait.. and wait. 10 feet away one of the young black men who is usually there on friday afternoons was selling a black muslim Farrakhan paper to people in cars -- the only difference for every other time was that he had brought a boom box this time. It was blasting a sermon (I'm assuming it was Farrakhan speaking) with.. a beat to it. I found myself bopping along every now and then. As I finally got on to the bus a man shouted from his car "Where are you from? Sweden? Well you're pretty!"

And then we went and saw Go which is an amazingly good movie - I totally and utterly liked it; It makes me want to go to a rave, dammit. And I fell for the drug dealer. How lame am I?

Gene bought the soundtrack at WalMart, I bought a multi pack of underwear, and uh then we've been to dinner and all and well, I came here to check out recent Ani DiFranco setlists because we want to know which of our favourite songs she might might might be prone to play at the concert on... WEDNESDAY! *sigh*

We have already made a plan - as the concert is coming to an end, we will chant "OVERLAP! OVERLAP! OVERLAP!", because we've noticed that she tends to play it as a last encore at about every third show or so, so we should have a shot at it. *sigh* And then awww I'd wanna hear Fuel and Gravel and Two little girls and um you know... you know?

Off again. Peace, love, and GO!
