Transcript of the Travis Chat at www.twec.com Thursday April 20 200-

Well I know who I am and I know I have never tried to fool anyone. You see, the karma machine would chop your fingers off if you did stuff like that
Why is everyone so afraid of making a fool out of themselves.  Surely the fool would be me if I wasn't who I said I was
No-one has faith anymore
Dougie is nursing a sore ear.  He had it lanced today.  He's in his bed
Andy is out with Nick and Johnny

Travis was originally called Glass Onion but switched it, why?  And why Glass Onion in the 1st place?
When I joined the band it was called Glass Onion and wanted it anything other than that
Travis just because a band name has to be as neutral a possible
Travis was a character of a movie
Named after Harry Dean Standon Paris Texas movie

Have you taken singing lessons?
One singing lesson and it was more of voice maintenance for 1 hour
I've forgotten everything the women told me and I am lucky I don't lose my voice
It wasn't for me

Have you really stopped after gig spliffs
Yeah absolutely

Fran, what was the first song you remember writing and thinking "this is good" how old were you?
She's so Strange on the Man Who
It was written on a 12 string guitar in a shop called gala shields
I picked the guitar off the shelf and the first cord I put my fingers on was the cord I wrote the song around

Was your new album title really inspired by the book "The man who?" or was it a tribute to the manager at the Horseshoe Bar?
It was taken from a play I saw in 1994
The author wrote Awakenings too
It was 6 years since I saw the play and I never forgotten it
Very inspiring
Completely different

Do the critics in the US have the same response to the Man Who as the critics in the UK had a year ago?
American press are more open and enthusiastic as the UK
You would have to ask the press
Get the music out and the and the radio is the most important
A long way to go with the radio in US
We are very optimistic
It's a big country and we've been sworn to committing ourselves to play at these sstations it is old fashioned but we need to reach our fans
Songs should influence the fans
Anything can inspire me it is the most spontaneous

What bands are your inspirations?
I don't' like bands
Artists and bands get in the way the best bands are the ones that don't exist any more.  They rely completely on visual medium
Like a movie star
Songs are invisible never relied on visual stimuli
Songs are the most powerful form of art, like smell
People will sell you anything and we buy it

Will Neil be playing any of the US dates?
I told her already
He will be playing at the Boston show
The babies name is Lola born on Monday
Girl

Do people call Fran Travis like they call Mark McGrath Sugar Ray?
Some people do most don't
They try not to call me Travis it is cute the association

I heard Dougie sing lead on Turn, is he going to sing more lead?
He will be premiering his vocal talents on the next UK single b side
Just the faces change
He wrote it and it was fantastic
No other band members sing lead
They need some practice

What inspired you to write 20 and is it your fave song?
I don't have a favorite song I was no longer a teenager it gets harder
It's explanatory
