Head Coach
Lynn Ullom

Lynn Ullom

Lynn Ullom just completed his tenth year as the head basketball coach at West Liberty State College.  The Lady Hilltoppers' program enjoyed another outstanding season, winning its third consecutive WVIAC champioship.  For his efforts, Ullom was honored as the "2001 West Virginia College Coach of the Year" (all sports), becoming the first ever women's sports coach to receive the prestigious award.  Also, the two-time "WVIAC Coach of the Year" (1996, 2000) holds a career mark of 185-107, a number that places him first in school history in both wins and winning percentage.

Ullom became the Lady 'Toppers head coach in 1990, and under his direction, his teams are annual contenders for a WVIAC championship. Over the last eight years, the Lady 'Toppers have been the WVIAC's most successful program claiming four tournament championships, three

regular season championships, five tournament championship game appearances, and eight consecutive final four appearances. His 1997, 1999, 2000, and 2001 teams represented the WVIAC in NCAA tournament play. During Ullom's tenure, his teams have set many school records, including wins in a season (25), consecutive wins (14), points in a game (112), and an NCAA best 8.3 three-point field goals made per game in the 2001 season. Ullom's 185-107 coaching mark places him first in school history in both wins and winning percentage. His players have also received individual recognition, virtually rewriting the WLSC school record book and earning 20 first or second team selections on the All-WVIAC Team. Academic success has also been impressive, as every player who has exhausted her eligibility has gone on to earn a degree. In addition, the WLSC program is annually ranked among the country's top teams in team grade point average.

A Hilltopper alumnus, Ullom earned his bachelors degree from West Liberty in 1985 after enjoying a standout scholastic career at Cameron High School. He was employed in the Marshall County school system for two years before accepting a teaching position at Lakeland High School in Freeport, Ohio. Ullom maintained his position at Lakeland for six years until he moved to West Liberty full-time as the school's sports information director and women's basketball coach.

Ullom began his coaching career at Cameron High School as a volunteer assistant from 1981-84. He then assisted Jim Crutchfield with his boys' program as Cameron's junior varsity coach from 1985-87.

At Lakeland, Ullom coached the boy's freshman team and served as the school's basketball coordinator before moving to the girls' program from 1988-91.

He is now the owner of the Top 100 Camps, Inc. after being the assistant camp director for eight years.

Ullom and his wife, JoJo, and one year old son Jared reside in West Liberty, WV.
