She Spent 62 Years in
This Community; Her
Husband Died in 1925
A few minutes after finishing a casual conversation with a friend over the telephone, death came suddenly to Mrs. Mary Alice Nafzger, age 82, as she sat in her chair Saturday afternoon at the home of her son, Leslie R. Nafzger, 6058 South State road, Westerville, with whom she made her home. Funeral services at 2 p.m., Monday, in the Westerville Presbyterian church, were conducted by Rev. George Parkinson, formerly of Westerville, now of Canton, Ohio. In carry out her request Rev. Parkinson sang "In the Garden" and read the verses of "The Christians' Good Night".
Mrs. Nafzger had lived in this community for the past 62 years, 15 of which were spent on the farm now owned by Newton Miller on Cleveland avenue. Her husband, Levi J. Nafzger, died in June, 1925.
Besides her son, Leslie, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Phelps, 6000 South State road; three grandchildren, Mrs. Helen Phelps Arn of Atlanta, Ga.; Leslie R. Nafzger of Westerville and Lester H. Nafzger of Columbus; and five great-grandchildren.
Burial was in the Otterbein Mausoleum by K. R. Fichner.
