Dies After Short
Illness In Hospital
After an illness of a few hours, Mrs. Geneva Schear, age 60, wife of Dr. E. W. E. Schear, professor of biology and geology of Otterbein college, died early Tuesday morning in Grant Hospital. She was stricken Monday evening while on her way to attend a meeting of the New Century club.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., today in the First Evangelical United Brethren church with Rev. Millard J. Miller in charge of the memorial service, assisted by Dr. J. Gordon Howard and Rev. J. Neely Boyer. Miss Frances Harris will play the organ and accompany the singers. Entombment will be in Otterbein Mausoleum by Fichner Funeral Home.
A native of Henning, Ill., Mrs. Schear had made her home here since 1912. She was a descendent of Solomon Zeller, a founder of this community. After graduation from Otterbein college in 1913, she served a few years as assistant in the biology department.
She was a member of the First Evangelical United Brethren church, New Century Club, A.A.U.W., Otterbein Womens's Club, Eastern Star, Westerville Historical Society. And was a past president of the Past Matrons of Mizpah Chapters.
Mrs. Schear is survived by her husband and a son, Dr. Evan W. Schear of Watts Hospital, Duke University, Durham, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Brunny of Portsmouth and Mrs. Ina Polk of Westfield, Ill.; five brothers, Dr. Manson Nichols and T.E. Nichols of Lancaster; Claire Nichols of St. Louis; Forrest Nichols of Kansas, Ill.; and Tarquin Nichols of St. Petersburg, Fla.
