Nine Ancestors
On Mayflower
Following an illness of three years, Vernon W. Lee died early Thursday morning at his home, 56 W. Home St., at the age of 84 years. Rev. Murray Drysdale conducted the funeral services at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, in the Fichner Funeral home. Songs were sung by "Chuck" Lauderbaugh of the Republican Glee Club.
Mr. Lee's wife, Mrs. Mary Estella Lee, who fell Friday morning, at her home and broke her hip, was removed to the hospital and was unable to attend the services. Besides his wife he is survived by a brother, Homer Lee of New York and several nieces and nephews.
A native of Hocking County, Mr. Lee, who was a farmer in southern Ohio, came to Westerville 43 years ago, and was engaged in lumber and coal business here.
Mr. Lee had nine ancestors who came to on the Mayflower. There were Governor and Mrs. Bradford, Miles and Rosa Standish, Mr. And Mrs. William Mullein, John and Priscilla Alden and Phillip Delano.
Entombment was in mausoleum by C. M. Stockdale.
