A Roman Religion For Today

BASIC TRUTHS and/or SCIENTIFIC BASIS BEHIND THIS MODERN ROMAN RELIGION.
* * The physical universe is energy.... (Don't believe it?! Check into Quantum physics and Relativity Theory. Modern science says it is.)
-Our physical universe is not really composed of any "matter" at all: its basic component is energy.
-Things appear to be solid and separate from one another on the level at which our physical senses normally perceive them. On finer levels, however, atomic and subatomic levels, seemingly solid matter is seen to be smaller particles within particles, which eventually turn out to be just pure energy.
-We are all part of one great energy field. Things which we perceive to be solid and separate are in reality just various forms of our essential energy.
-The energy is vibrating at different rates of speed, and, thus, has different qualities. Thought is a relatively fine, light form of energy and therefore very quick and easy to change. Matter is relatively dense, compact energy, and therefore slower to move and change.
-All forms of energy are interrelated and can affect one another.

* * Energy is magnetic....
-One law of energy is energy of a certain quality tends to attract energy of a similar quality.
-Thought and feelings have their own magnetic energy which attracts energy of a similar nature.

* * Form follows Idea
-Thought is a quick, light, mobile, form of energy. It manifests instantaneously.
-When we create something, we always create it first in a thought form.
-The idea is like a blueprint; it creates an image of the form, which then magnetizes and guides the physical energy to flow into that form and eventually manifests it on the physical plane.
-Simply having an idea or thought, holding it in your mind, is an energy which will tend to attract and create that form on the material plane.

* * The law of radiation and attraction
-Whatever you put out into the universe will be reflected back to you. -We always attract into our lives whatever we think about most, believe in most strongly, expect on the deepest levels, and/or imagine most vividly.

ARCHETYPES
Carl Jung taught that the universe was a living being, of which everyone and everything is a component part, all plugged into the collective unconscious through the PSYCHE like electrical cords into receptacles are plugged into the same energy. The PSYCHE or self is an entity similar to the Hindu atman. In each separate species, or class of phical forms, there are built in tendencies to connect with certain preexisting ARCHETYPAL IMAGES within the collective unconscious. These images are universal. Some are human archetypes, to which all humans have access. Some are for dogs, some are for kangaroos, etc. What they do is tell the separate creature how to be that creature and how to act in the world. New born kangaroos KNOW how to get to the pouch. The mother doesn't show them. Female dogs KNOW how to care for their young. They don't learn it form their mother. Similarly, mankind KNOWS that there is God. He KNOWS that there are entities which run the daily workings of the universe and, even though he must perceive them through the veil of his culture and experience, therby giving them different names and outer forms, mankind, all over the earth speaks of the same gods and goddesses. The god of wisdom, language, and initiation (into magically realm) is universal, but, to the Romans he appeared as a adolescent male carrying a snake covered winged wand, wearing a winged hat, and winged sandals and answered to the name MERCURY, to the Egyptians, he had the body of a man and the head of an Ibis bird, carried writing materials, and answered to THOTH, and to the Hindus, he appears as a slightly overweight, male bofy with the head of an elephant, and is called GANESHA. The archetypal image deep down in the collective unconcious is the same and is experienced by all humans, but, they must translate it into their language, culture, and world view in order to understand and connect with it.
Jung said that the individual human psyche is made up of complexes, the dynamic points of psychic life that make human beings who they are. The human psyche conatins many different complexes which can allow for many different possible experiences. Sometimes these complexes are even contradictory and opposite to one another, but this is the nature of the psyche, which is our connection to the universe. A complex becomes a problem when we try to deny that we have it. Homophobia is often caused by a persons inability to accept his own homosexual feelings. If he just claims his complex and integrates it into himself, accepting that homosexuality is just as normal as heterosexuality and that its okay to HAVE these feelings, even though he doesn't act on them. Some complexes are like this one, personal and worldly. Some appear mythological like the Oedipus complex, and are bubbling up from the collective unconscious. The process of integrating all of ones complexes is called individuation, from Latin individuus meaning, whole and undivided. The end of this process would be a feeling of wholeness and interconnected of the self and the universe, which is also the goal of Hinduism, union of the atman within Brahman.

GAIA THEORY
The Gaia hypothesis is the first comprehensive scientific expression of the profoundly ancient belief that the planet Earth is a living creature. Formulated by British atmospheric scientist James Lovelock and Americcan microbiologist Lynn Margulis, the Gaia hypothesis states that the Earth's climate and surface environment are controlled by the plants, animals, and microorganisms that inhabit it. That taken as a whole, the planet behaves not as an inanimate sphere of rock and soil, sustained by the automatic and accidental processes of geology, as traditional earth science has long maintained, but more as a biological superorganism - a planetary body- that adjusts and regulates itself.
To learn more about this theory check out the book Gaia the Growth of an Idea by Lawrence E. Joseph at your local library.

ARCHEOLOGY
This section is still under construction.
Archeologists tells us that the oldest known deity worshipped by mankind was the goddess. The goddess reigned over agricultural societies as the creatrix of abundance. The god, of life and death, took over as the hunters/ gatherers conquered the peaceful farmers.
