flying without wings

chapter twenty five

'Emily? Is the tea ready? Where's Mark? I thought he was just here two seconds ago.' My dad was back from the toilet. 'Mark's here with me dad. And yes, the tea is coming.' I had to hush Mark over to dad.

We chatted all evening until Mark had to go to the record company dinner. 'Mark, could you please drop Dad at his hotel on your way to the restaurant?' I yelled to him while he got ready in the toilet.

'Why? Couldn't David stay with us?' 'Well, you know we only have one room..' And I want to tell you something, I whispered to myself. 'Did you ask your dad, see if it's okay? I mean, I could always sleep on the couch.' 'I'll go and ask him then. Are you sure hun?'

Mark opened the door, still only wearing a huge towel over his body. I couldn't resist not to kiss him like that. Man, I'd been kissing him like mad today. 'What was that for? Third time today Miss Steefall.' I grinned cheekily.

Dad didn't want to disturb us he said so he went back to his hotel. Mark drove him there. I was left all alone again in the apartment. I felt so good because tomorrow would be the first day I didn't have to go to the detox centre.

I went to the toilet and examined my body. Yeah, I was getting a bit fatter. A round tummy was definitely growing. And what did I think I was craving for? Kissing Mark definitely!

The phone rang again. I quickly dressed up and ran to get it. 'Hello?' It went silent for a long time. 'Hello? Who's this? Talk! Hello?' 'Hello Emily.'

I let out a quick gasped. No way, no way, no way. I was hoping I had heard the wrong voice, or I misinterpreted the person's voice. 'Heard you got out of detox hey? Are you completely sure you're clean?'

Nooooo!!! This guy's voice was the last voice I wanted to hear, ever. 'Yes. I am clean and I am happy. Just leave me alone!' 'Ahhh, I see. Still the fragile Emily.' Then he let out a sickening laugh.

I couldn't let him enter my life again. I quickly put down the phone. My heart was pounding. How did my old dealer know where I live now? It was impossible. I heard the door was opened. I was hoping that it wasn't him. I knew that he was a dangerous man.
