chapter six
I tried to get on with my life but three weeks later my period was late. The doctors confirmed my pregnancy and I felt so stupid again, I had totally forgotten to use protection. I didn't know whether to phone Shane and tell him, but in the end I decided against it. I needed to carry on, not get upset over things I couldn't change.
A week later I got an interview from one of the tabloids in London. It was a national newspaper and the money was very good. I got the job even though I had to explain that I was pregnant and would need maternity leave. I left Dublin and moved back to England straight away. The job was like a dream come true, I got to interview loads of stars and was really enjoying myself. When it came to my maternity leave, I had a deal with the boss that I would work freelance and on the website until I was ready to come back full-time. I felt that things were finally going right for me.
