chapter six When I came back to the room Jenny was alone again. ‘What did Bryan want?’ ‘Nothing special, just to talk a little. We decided to be just friends. Where have you been then?’ ‘Nowhere special, just in Shane’s room. We kissed, but we’re just friends also.’ Jenny’s mouth was big enough to fit an orange in it. I’ve never seen anyone so surprised. ‘I thought you were with Mark?’ ‘I am, that’s why Shane and I are just friends and that’s why you’re not going to tell anybody about this.’ ‘Does Shane know about you and Mark?’ ‘No, he just knows that I’m sort of involved with someone else, and that’s how I want it to stay.’ ‘Anna, I think there’s something up with those guys.’ ‘What do you mean?’ ‘When Bryan left he met that guy Nicky in the hall and he said that the studio had phoned and that they had to get there right away.’ ‘What’s so strange about that? Perhaps they’re building one.’ ‘You maybe right, I just didn’t think about that. What are we going to do tonight?’ ‘Shane said that they were going to hang out in the bar, we could swing by there…’ ‘I don’t know. This thing with Bryan, it would be so awkward. But you can go if you like. You want to see Mark, right?’ ‘Yeah. That would be very nice. Are you sure you don’t mind if I leave you here all alone?’ ‘I’m positive. And we have the whole day to do something together before tonight. What do you feel like?’ Later that night I went down to the bar. When I came in I saw Shane and Mark sitting alone by a table. I looked around for the other guys and saw that it was them who were up on stage singing karaoke. I braced my self and sat down by Shane and Mark. We were listening to the other guys. ‘Your friends can really sing. Perhaps they should send in a demo to a record company.’ Shane and Mark looked at each other. ‘Perhaps they should, Shane said. But I doubt that they would have any luck.’ ‘But I think they’re really good. What do you think Mark?’ ‘I don’t know. What did you girlies do today then? Did you go shopping again?’ ‘Yes, how could you guess.’ ‘Where’s your friend then?’ Kian asked when they returned. ‘She’s up in our room. She didn’t feel like socialising today.’ ‘What’s your room number?’ ‘Why?’ ‘She can’t sit up there alone all night. I’m going to get her. What’s the number?’ ‘Ki, let it go. If she doesn’t want to she doesn’t want to’, Bryan said. ‘What’s up with you Bryan, don’t you want Jen to come and join us?’ ‘I don’t care. I could get her if you like’, Bryan said as he was getting out of his chair. ‘No, Bry, sit. I’ll go. What’s the number?’ ‘It’s 332, I said.’ ‘I’ll be right back’ Kian said and disappeared. Bryan looked after him wanting to go to. I caught his eye and smiled encouraging at him. |
