What I want is what I've got

chapter four

For the rest of the afternoon, I just lay on my bed, thinking about the wonderful times that Kian and I spent together before he ever got into Westlife. The breezy springtime when we grew flowers and fed wild birds... Lazy summer afternoons we spent near the lake, fishing... the cold windy fall where we hid amongst heaps of fallen leaves... winter mornings when we made money by shovelling the neighbourhood driveways and having snowball fights...

I smiled to myself, thinking about those happy times. However, the thought of the cold expression Kian just gave me flashed into my mind. I closed my eyes and tried not to think about it but the thoughts just keeps coming back. I knew that I had to do something soon to get the old Kian... the Kian I used to know back as soon as possible.

I sat up on my bed and decided to give him a call. The monotonous sound of the phone set me thinking about what to say to him. I then decided to seek others help... others who knew him better... Shane and Mark. I jumped out of my bed and went to their place.

"Ding Dong!" the doorbell sounded. I took in a deep breath and waited for them to answer the door. I looked down at my neck and saw that I was still wearing the chain that Kian gave me before he went to join Westlife. I took it off and kept it in my bag, feeling very sad.

The door finally opened and when I looked up, I did not see Mark or Shane. I was a tall blonde guy who had a smile as brilliant as Kian but he looked better than Kian... a little. "Err... hi. I'm looking for Mark and Shane. Are they in?" I asked, feeling awkward. His baby-blue eyes looked very friendly as he said, "Yeah, they are just inside. Come on in and make yourself comfortable. I'm Bryan and you are?"

"Angeline. But everyone calls me Angie. Nice to meet you," I said as I walked cautiously into the house. "Hey Mark! Shane! Someone's here to see you guys!" Bryan called. I sat down on their old couch and patiently waited for them to come out. Shane was the first to appear and he was shocked. His beautiful brown eyes just stared at me as though I was an alien.
