| The West Springfield Spartans Hockey Team is still the only undefeated team (6-0) in the Eastern division of the Northern Virginia Scholastic Hockey League (NVSHL). The Spartans went 3 for 3 on the powerplay defeating their rival the Lake Braddock Bruins (now 0-3-2) 7-4 on Friday night. Senior Mike Strickland had 3 goals and 2 assists, while Tom Harrison also had a hat trick for the Spartans. Freshman David Sheinfeld had a beautiful breakaway goal and an assist as well. Eric Wrobel had two assists, and Alex Paik, Bobby Surdam, Patrick Newhall, and Alex Hiestand also had assists for the Spartans. West Springfield out shot Lake Braddock 27-16 and at one time held a 6-1 lead before sitting their first two lines allowing Lake Braddock back into the game. Lake Braddock`s Senior Captain Chris Schnappinger had a hat trick while Zach Wilson had a goal and two assists for the Bruins. |
