West Springfield Clinches First place; finishes regular season undefeated in Hockey with 6-0 win over Stonewall Jackson!!! |

The West Springfield Spartans Hockey Team finished there season as the only undefeated team (10-0) in the Eastern Conference of the Northern Virginia Scholastic Hockey League (NVSHL). |

West Springfield Senior Mike Strickland, continued his bid for NVSHLs All-Star team as he scored a hat trick in limited playing time. Tom Harrison had two goals and one assist and Eric Wrobel also scored for the Spartans. Recently named Washington Post Athlete of the Week, Bobby Surdam, had an assist in the game in limited playing time in order to rest him for the playoffs. |

The player of the game though was Stonewall Jackson goaltender Paul Balcerzak, who stopped 47 quality shots. West Springfield goaltender stopped all ten of the quality scoring chances that he faced. |

With the West Springfield Spartans finishing in first place, their first playoff game will be at Mount Vernon Ice Arena on February 19th @ 6:15 pm vs. the winner of the Chantilly vs. Forest Park game the night before. |
