Long time no see. How are you doing? I just received the address for our class website from Sue (Leonard) Beauchene. What a neat website. So I thought I would send in my e-mail address to add to your list. My wife Sandy (Shannon) and I had our 34th wedding anniversary this year and our 3rd grand child today, July 9, 2001. A boy 7 lbs 8 oz.
Verna's letter stated that a Website is established for our class. Please email me the site. Oh.....in case you want to know which Kathy of 66, it is Kathy Hammermeister. I can not attend the reunion but want to make a connection and of course want to know how everyone is holding up to the 50"s!!!

Can't believe all of us fine buff classmates are in our 50's!! I am sure none of us look like 50+.

Hope to hear from you and view the website.

Well, you just never know what's going to happen in any given day (duh....)

Dennis and I went out to the Elks to tie up loose ends and on the way back to work went by Ken Olson's shop. It was closed so we pulled into a parking spot so I could get all the info from his sign, and up he walks. Dennis called to him and he didn't recognize us for a minute and was very surprised.

The upshot of it is, he wasn't planning on coming, but after we visited a few minutes, not only is he coming but he's playing golf also!

(editor's note: Hooray!)

Finally connected with Eric Melton and had a very nice visit in person with him this noon. He's working about 2 miles from me at the Washington State Fruit Commission which has its beautiful offices at Sarge Hubbard Park on the Greenway. He looks great and has a job that takes him all over the world.
I missed the 30th--our youngest son had a baseball tournament-- so I'm really looking forward to this one! As of now, I am not bringing my husband. He would not enjoy himself for very long and would want to leave too early, so I'll have a lot more fun by myself!!

I'm looking forward to seeing you and all of our class on the 14th of July.

I am alive, well, and single. Still waiting to be a grandfather. Daughter--Tracy, and son--Brad are not yet married so guess it'll be a while before grandchild arrives. I retired 6 years ago--spend my time playing golf, travelling, helping friends.

See ya in July.

P.S. Couldn't find a decent picture--I tried to scrape the hair off an old one; it just didn't work!

I am planning on coming and have contacted David and Virginia Milne to let them know the date and hopefully they will be able to make it.
That is a really neat site. I don't know if I have the guts to send in a picture but will see what I can find. A West Valley Website is a wonderful idea!! Thanks!!! I'm retiring this year! Yeah!!
Hopefully I'll make it to the reunion.
Just as recently as Thanksgiving 1999 my co-worker friend and I decided to go to the food court at the Mall in downtown Jakarta for our American holiday meal as they have a Pizza Hut there, and our driver and we were gridlocked on the streets near the government buildings as a huge independence demonstration march was happening; and at first we didn't know if we were safe or not.
Our driver is armed; however, on one side of the van were demonstrators, the other, police and military. Talk about the rock and the hard place!
So we opened the door and began to walk towards our flat via the route of the demonstrators. It was like being in the 60's and 70's again. E. Timor was just over and 2 other islands were trying to gain independence. It was a peaceful demo with men, women and children all trying to be heard at once, and it was exhilarating to be accidental protesters for a little while.
Long story short we had a great time and were treated well, as the common folk love Americans, and it took 7 hrs to walk the 3 miles.
Bottom line... what a way to think about thanksgiving! I was never so thankful for being free and living where I can do and say what I want to. All and all it was a good lesson and will write about it someday.

P.S. I went to Viet Nam a few months ago and left flowers at the War Memorial there for our fallen brothers.

Unfortunately that is the week of our family reunion on the Oregon coast. I'll still be with you in spirit!
Wow! What an awesome job on the songs. I haven't even THOUGHT about some of those in years. But then, what can you expect, I've been with junior high kids & rap & hip hop for that last 30 years!!

Peggy (Herron) Schaffer

I just looked at your fantastic West Valley web page! What a great idea! Thank you for doing all of the work to create such a PROFESSIONAL look. I'll be sure and check it every couple of weeks for updates. And yes, please add my e-mail address to your list. I'd love to hear from former classmates. I've lost touch with almost everyone. I didn't get to attend the 30th reunion, but did attend the 10th and 20th....they were really fun!
Great job of setting up this WVHS "66" web site. You have my okay to keep my name and e-mail address on the web page.
I am in Tigard Oregon. That's too bad about not doing a book this year, I haven't been to a reunion since the 10 year one and I really enjoy reading about the other classmates from the previous reunions. I am planning to go to this one, my husband won't be coming he has another event to go to. Can't believe how fast the years are going!! I hope this finds you and your families both well. (My husband) and I will plan on attending and will also plan on the golf tournament. Altho, I hope this time some of the ladies from our class will participate - that was very intimidating (or something), especially for a beginner...
I did receive the letter about the 1966 class 35th reunion! I almost thought it was a typo, surely it hasn't been that long!
I hope all is well with you. (Verna has) been such a terrific organizer of class events all through the years, I am sure this will be one of the best too.....I would like to try to attend at least some of the class functions, so please keep me on your list for the schedule? Sorry I don't have any info on other classmates, I have lost touch over the years!
Speaking of age! I sure was disappointed the last time we held a reunion that so many "Old People" kept showing up! I trust you'll make sure that doesn't happen again this time! Thanks so much for doing an excellent job on the Class of 66's web-site - it looks so professional!! Please add our e-mail address to the site. Thank you, and let us know if you need more information!
I know it has been a long time. I was happy to get the newsletter about the next reunion and was disappointed that I won't be able to attend. My husband, Howard, and I will still be traveling in Alaska. We leave San Diego around May 20 and will not be returning home until approximately the end of August. I think of everyone often but have not been back to Yakima for years. My family....mom (1986), sister Nancy(1991) and then Dad (1996) have all gone "home" to be with the Lord and I don't really have any other ties in that area....except wonderful (mostly) high school memories of great friends.
I am not very good at corresponding and didn't even write back to Susan Eakin....please tell her hello and that I am sorry that I didn't respond to her kind note.
I am now a grandmother of two wonderful grandsons. Andrea my daughter and Alex my son (step) both have blessed us with boys....born 18 days apart!!!! They turned two this past January and what a delight they are!!!
Please put me on the list for everyone to have....I will try to do better at keeping in touch. Maybe I can come to the next reunion.....should be really old by then!!! HA
If anyone is ever in San Diego....please pass the word for them to look me up!! Any correspondence or news gathered would still be appreciated. Thanks.
Hope all is well with you.
Barbara (Polk) Hughes
I was so surprised to get the email from your daughter about the reunion and the WV 1966 website. I have been out of touch and have wondered over the years where everyone was.
I appreciate all the work that has been done on the website, I wish I would have found it earlier. I don't know yet if I will be able to attend the reunion but would like to keep in touch.
I was wondering if anyone is living around Vancouver or Portland. I did see in the comments that someone lives in Tigard. Thanks again for all of your work on the site and getting in touch with me.
Much of my work has been on a volunteer basis, and I also homeschooled our two youngest daughters (17 and 14) through their middle-school and early high-school years. This year they're in public high school full time, so I have a bit more time for projects (er, in between meeting my husband for our lunchtime walk every day, and driving girls to all their activities, and chaperoning band, orchestra, and Knowledge Bowl trips, and...etc.!)
Our older two children are married (they're in their thirties) and have given us eight grandchildren so far. Gack! I'm not ready for a granny gown--I'm still too busy being a mom!
How about sending (mail) to me in care of my mother in Yakima? No one is going up to Spain these days to get our mail and I haven't moved into my apartment yet. I'd give you that address if I were moved now. . . . maybe, someday!

Karen Dyer

Hi, yes this email is ok. I will forward some pictures of what I look like now and maybe of Verna and I. Hey you are doing a great job on this reunion page, Thanks and keep it up if you can. You take care.
Hi, I'm not lost. (I'm in) Scappoose, Oregon. Look forward to seeing you this summer.
Sorry, I'm not able to come to the reunion. I was OK with the original date, but have church family camp that weekend, so...

We have our youngest daughter's wedding the end of June, so will try to send pictures from that. I've got tons of pictures now, so will try to get thru them to find one or two others, and scan them on to you :-)

Linda (Graham) Stevens.

Thanks for the update information.

I do enjoy going into the web page from time to time and seeing the changes. Thanks for your efforts!

I'll have to check around and see what I can send in.

Again, Thanks!

Your e-mail comes like a flashback to times long ago and far away. I have already scheduled some foreign travel this summer, and unfortunately my route doesn't take me through Yakima. To you and anyone else of the Class of 66 who happens to remember me I send greetings and best regards. Someday soon perhaps we all be retired old folks with lots of free time, so maybe I will be able to make it to the 40th, or 50th, or whatever future reunion.

To anyone who wonders "what ever happened to...", I am down here at an outpost on the Southern frontier, on a "less-traveled road", enjoying interesting challenges.

Regards,
Mark Hayden
