Well, well, well, how goes it all.  I've been extremely lax in updating this page.  Everything has gone up a step or two in these last few months: Work, playing, relationship-just about everything.  Sorry about that.

I've been getting a lot of my guitar lesson plans together to hopefully offer a 'Berkley' guitar style classes at our local college/learning center.  I want to offer intermediate and advanced classes.  A whole class on some strange but useful guitar finger exercises I've collected from other artists and ones I've created to really challenge any level guitarist.  I would like to offer a techniques class-with two hanged tapping, whammy abuse, ect.  I would like to round it all off with some type of entry level music theory class that helps to map the guitar neck better.  Time will tell.

Other than that, just playing my guitar and finding some cool little techniques along the way that are strictly my own.  Came across one that if worked up to speed will utterly confuse anyone that tries to learn the lick as it's played.  Funny how intense and focused playing will bring these things out of you...

Another reason for the lack of updates...I've also been considering a total  redesign/rebuild of the site.  I would like to make it a more professional 'business card' type of site.  Especially with the idea of incorporating the teaching angle.

Until then...Stay classy.

Hello all my buds both cyber and non-cyber, does that make sense?  Purposely waited a little while to update, getting into the New Year with playing, writing and getting to know someone that has inspired both-so whoopy for me.  Love the way they all tie into each other and inspire me all the way around.

Also, will be seeing the one and only Ani DiFranco again next week.  She's rocking with a great new CD and DVD, but what else is new-she rocks.  The CD is called 'Knuckledown' and the DVD is called 'Trust'.  The day after I see her in Tucson, she will be on the 'Tonight Show' with Jay Leno-so check it out on Feb 11th.   I plan on hitting the 'Guitar Center' and taking my guitar with me and cranking up some licks for a couple of hours before showtime.  It will be a great time I can assure you!!!

To tired to comment on the whole 'Altered-State of the Union Address'.  Let's some it up-it's all a bunch of 'poo', how's that?  He wants a trillion+ dollars to fix everything-fix being defined by his 'stellar' fixing of the whole Middle East pickle-North Korea, Iran, Iraq, ect.  So you decide, do you want him 'fixing' anything for you?   But tried and true to G.W.'s word, he will go headlong, whether you like it or not, fucking up everything along the way, because he's always right, he's a visionary <see picture below-10/14/2004>.

For those of you interested, I will be placing some new guitar lick video/audio very soon-stay tuned and thanks.

Here are a few thoughts about the passing of a dear friend and co-worker.

On Thusday, December 23rd, I, as well as, many others, lost a true sweet heart, a loving human being and a dear friend to many.  She was a wonderful wife and mother, and the world is sadder for it.  Donna Wainman was a darling person.  From the moment I stepped into this job, she was always there with a smile, a joke, a helping hand, or a word of encouragement, she was so great.

Her life was a soft and tempered light.  It was like the light that shines through the leaves, casting moving picture shadows that danced from sunrise to sunset, across the forest floor, casting a gentle glow that illuminated the darkness.

Her light now stilled, she has become shadow.  But not shadow defined as darkness, or of sorrow, but shadow that shelters painful light and unforgiving sadness.  The beauty of shadows is that they are always around us.  Always.  Shadows are like memory, like dreams, they are pieces of heartfelt emotion surviving everywhere we look.  Shadow memories dancing just out of the corners of our eyes, known to us at any moment if we choose to look around and remember.

Donna always made me feel happy, or would make me laugh, as I would walk past her desk.  She had a jar of candies that I would always get into, a likely excuse because what was always sweeter was her smile, her happiness, her reassurance or her puzzled look because I couldn't get the printer to work.

Donna, you told me once that you knew me since I was a little boy.  It took me until I became a man to meet you, to respect you, to finally know you as my friend.  With this tragic event having taken you away from us all, I am once again a little boy, wondering, needing reassurance from my friend...

Rest in Sweet Peace Donna 'as angels sing thee to thy rest'.

Hello all, thanks for all the kind emails about my playing.  Very cool.  Also very cool are the holidays.  Merry Christmas to everyone that stops by the page, all my friends that do the same and I do very sincerely wish everyone a very happy holiday filled with really good things.

So many people take a day like X-Mas to be thankful for all the people-family and friends they have in their life.  I've always been very much a holiday outsider, the whole mystic of Santa and all that jazz was squashed in 'One Swell Foop', I mean 'One Fail Swoop' when I was about 8 or so.  Long story, but let's just say that a patheticly long line of 'I want, I want' peers, a crappily dressed Santa, a wad of stuck together candy just didn't add to my 'Belief' in Christmas.  I still remember Santa asking me 'What's up?', and not in a jovial-bowl full of jelly hohoho way, just 'What's up?  As I sat there, taking in all the 'fakeness' I remember thinking to myself, "Look at how crappy you look buddy, How are you going to help me?"  I just looked at him, got off his lap and walked home, tossing my candy ball into the trash on the way out.

But, I do, however, have a great 'Belief' despite it all.  A belief that we can be more than these silly holidays and live the principles behind them-all the time, well, at least until someone tries to crap all over your good happiness days...

I do very much believe that so many holidays are/have been created by card stores, retail stores, ect, y'know, the basic capitalist 'sell anything' way of doing business.  I love buying gifts for people, but I expect nothing in return.  Buying a gift should be because you thought enough about them to say, "This would be great for so and so."

Buying a gift for the holidays doesn't say I love you, I appreciate you, ect.  It only says, I bought you this gift because 'it's that time of year' holiday thing.  Giving a gift in that manner says nothing.  For me, expressing love, happiness, joy, family, friendship just means a million times more than a gift-I mean, gifts are nice-I'm not a monster! haha  But expression is king, being made to feel loved all year round is better.  To feel I love you, I appreciate you, means the world and I don't need a gift to tell me that, help me feel that.  You need to say it everyday, without embarassment, without pride, without being timid.  Give the gift of truth, of heart.

You need to ask youself if the people in your life have your back, not just one day, but everyday?  Do you invest your soul into the people of your life?  Do they love you, trust you, believe in you everyday?  And in return, have you given the same?  If you can answer 'yes' then you don't need a silly overly decorated day to express it because you haven't stopped.

Merry Christmas!!!!

Like alot of you out there, you've probably heard about Dimebag being shot to death on stage.  What a very sad thing to have happen.  I was never a fan of his music or his playing but I respected him for being a player.  I always read interviews and such that profiled him.  He always came off as a very humble guy and seemed like someone you'd know.  He seemed to really love his fans as well as his musical idols.  He seemed alot like anyone of us that just love music, the guitar or just life.  He touched alot of lives in a very positive way.   Rest in Peace Dime!

Hey all, what's up?  I  reviewed the  'Shivers' solo, and it  isn't bad,  it is what it is really, but, and here are the 'buts': haha

'Shivers' was a long solo, so I had to cut it up.  Chopped it up so the download wouldn't be like 5 days.  I will post up 2 short clips and leave the rest for another day or maybe never.  I need to emphisize that this is just me jamming, if I were to create an 'Eruption' syle solo, I would do it ALL different.

So there you have it, but I have to mention:

The sound quality wasn't very good.  I seemed to remember it being very good, but after reviewing it, I was wrong.  I guess I was driving the amp I had borrowed a bit to much and distorted my little, teenie, tiny, poor itty-bitty, smallish microphone! haha  Not to mention my ears!  But hey, 'what else is new?'  I will be posting them, hopefully by this weekend.  I will keep them up for a spell, but I was going to do a new one every month, just to keep the trend of actually putting samples of my playing up and running!!!  I know, I know, seems like it was only yesterday <uhm, three years ago> that I said I'd be putting them up...what can I say?  I'm gonna get a little page started to house these little licks played by little ol' me.  So stay tuned....

Hey all, what's happening?  Here?  Not a whole lot.  Getting ready to download a quick video clip of 'yours truly' playing some guitar.  It's a little solo piece I called "Shivers"-it was done on Halloween night of this year.  I know I've been talking about it for a long time, well....the clips are done.  It's just getting them online in the best format and the best length so alot of you won't be downloading for days at a time.  I don't want someone to download these little nuggets for hours at a time just to see and hear little old me!  It has some pretty cool fast playing on it and is in fact, quite scary-hence, getting the 'shivers'.  I'm just needing to find the time to actually download it, and maybe a few others I've recorded.  I think this 'video' format will be a good thing.  My fingers can move pretty fast and it would be cool for anyone and everyone to see and hear the solos.  But, like always, these things take 'real' time, so until I can really find the time and double check my bandwidth, ect....I think you fans of frantic guitar licks will love it!

Anyone coming over from Soulstice's website, thanks for that, but also, I've talked with Eric and it appears that Yahoo is taking it's sweet time helping the boys upgrade their space.  Not to worry, <I hope> it doesn't take long to get it all sorted out.  They'll be playing on Dec. 11th and it will also mark the last gig for Nick.  He'll be shipping out to Iraq so wish him luck, send him your best wishes, your appreciation and keep him in your thoughts and prayers.  Visit his website at:
http://www.nickwilliamsrockersonly.com/profile.html

Haven't had the pleasure of meeting Nick in person but I hope to at the December gig.

The voting is done and America has made it's descision for the presidency:
huh, huh, huh, they said 4 more

Like all things in life:  The best team doesn't always win 'the Series', the best band doesn't win 'the Grammy' and the best movie doesn't always win 'the Oscar'.  The best man didn't win 'the Election'.

This election was fought over 'safety', our safety against all those evil terrorist people that are looming over us, just waiting to one day spring into our lives, <insert toilet flush sound here>.  It got into everyone's heads though, and it's also a 'win-win' for the Republicans.  It goes like this:  If we never have another attack on our land or against our citizens-then G.W. and the gang took care of those evil terrorist..."our war against terrorists has worked"!  Or, as long as there is opposition in foreign countries <oil rich ones especially> then they have every reason to continue 'the War on Terrorism'.  Either way G.W. wins.

Seems like every other issue was ignored by the American voting public.  Four more years people...four more years of economic loss, four more years without health care, I can go on and on, but you get the picture...or do you?

10/12/2004

Hello, here's a little update.  Been talking with people about the little thing called an election coming up here in November.  I have to say that I'm not the smartest guy when it comes to politics-but I do know alot.  Very few people know the issues, know what each candidate stands for or against.  They'll gladly vote right down party lines instead of 'hello...', voting the issues.  Even more scarce is the amount of people that have actually read the 'Patriot Act' for one.  (We have an administration that swears up and down that 'WE' <who's 'we' by the way?> are fighting for freedom, ours, as well as, others-yet are only to willing to suggest and vote in a nasty little thing like the 'Patriot Act' so we can 'give up some of our freedoms, to be safer'.  What the F*ck???  Are you serious???  I'm not giving up shit!  Not for you or anyone.  It's bad enough that as artists, we are constantly told to 'edit this', 'change that', 'record like this so you'll be on radio <Radio is a revolt, it's a monopoly-owned by a few people that have radio playlists that so many 'talented' artist will never get on>.  Art and music programs are getting cut from tons of schools across the nation so they can sterilize creative thinking.  How free is that?  Seems like the G.W. Administration's idea of 'free' is costing you and I, a whole f*cking lot.

It's always been very hard to talk 'politics' or 'religion' anyway.  People are so entrenched that they will never see another point of view.  I really don't like to engage in these, above mentioned arguments or conversations.  Only because there is hardly ever an intelligent argument or there is a person shouting their parties rhetoric with no actual work involved-that's right...no free thought, just "sponsored by" soundbytes.  If you come at me with a well thought out reason why you support who you support, I'll listen, I'll absorb and I'll respect your point of view, but come at me with the ever popular "I don't know..." or "Because we need to fight terrorism...".  Then buddy or buddette, save your breath.

I respect people's views, but whenever you state how you feel-there is always someone that wants to change your mind.  It is always interesting to hear other people's opinions on these two subjects.  Very rarely do the actual facts or issues coincide with reality.  There is also such a variance in morality and ethics, just plain duality and hypocrisy in people's political or religious choices.  Example: You have people that are opposed to abortion and support the death penalty-I guess it's all in the timing... to use their own terminology against them, "You aborted a fetus in it's 300th trimester."  <Thanks Dennis>.  You have people that angrily protest across the street from abortion clinics-screaming about a fetus' right to life, yet they do nothing, nothing...for all the children that are born into this world that ARE in need of help.  Many of these right to life mongers would gladly and happily step over and ignore a family on the street that is begging for money on their way to their "Aren't I special for standing with my cheap sign and not acting towards the greater good" get together.

Terrorism?  Foreign Policy?  You choose, they once were very different things, but now, they are very much the same thing.  Terrorism is now defined as: oil.  Foreign Policy is now defined as: oil.  What is this administration's definition of terrorism?  It's the biggest excuse/scam to get us into Iraq.  Where are the ties that bind Saddam to Osama?  I'll take a shot in the dark here...oil countries.  What did G.W. ask, almost plead, when the war was on? Not hey, give up let's save human lives here, yours and ours, or something in the interest of the preservation of life, nah, it was: "Sadam, don't destroy our oilfields."  Let's look at that, "our oilfields", don't fuck with the oilfields. Iraq was ready to be toppled, it was ready to be taken because it was a large venomous snake whose fangs had been removed, it's venom had been drained.  It had been sanctioned to the teeth, had no capability of producing the grand production called 'w.o.m.d.' let alone 'A war'.

Why oil?  I do believe G.W. to be a greedy Texas oil man-even though he's failed at it throughout his business career, but there is another reason.  We, the United States are the Great War Machine.  We have some of the most technologically stunning equipment right here on this here planet.  The stealth bombers, the black hawks, tanks, ect, ad nauseum that are our arsenal.  What do they all run on?  Bingo!  Gold star for you, it's fossil fuels. Without them, no propulsion, no get up and go, no search and destroy, nothing, nada, zero, zip.  They can care less that you or I are paying $2.00 a gallon for gas. We pick up their fuel tabs.  Ever see a whole squadron of Apache helicopters flying around and around?  Who do you think is picking up that tab?  All the 'Bushies' will have you believe that it's from....magic!!!  It's you and me, it's you and I, it's I and you, it's him and her, it's them and us, it's we the people, the ordinary people.  What the fuck do you think G.W. is flying around in, on these less than impressive, parrot mouthed, flip flop happy, beady eyed campaign trips?  Do you think G.W. lifted the lever, inserted nozzle and swiped his debit card at the 'Airport One' fuel tank?  Well, he has inserted and swiped, but it sure as hell hasn't been his debit card....

Okay, on to Bush as the big bad "Commander In Chief"-I have some questions-if I may use a football metaphor:

Do you want 'The QuarterBack' or the 'WaterBoy'.  Do you want a guy that's actually played the game or the guy that's never been man enough to play, never had the skills to play?  Do you want the guy whose number was called and went out there?  Or the guy whose number was called and he looked at Daddy and had him say "No, call someone else's name, Jr. doesn't want to play, it's to rough out there for my little boy".

Do you want the guy that had to memorize complex plays, when to throw, when to tuck the ball in and run, when to throw out of bounds and the best ways to utilize offense and protect your defense?  Or do you want the goofy pimple faced kid that is pouring Gatorade into wax cups, hoping they'll take what he has to offer?

Who do you want to lead our troops in and out of battle, lead our country?  Do you want the guy that stood his ground, saved lives, took lives <as hard as that must be for soldiers>, ect, and DID NOT fail to show up to do his duty, or do you want the party animal, Mr. Deferment, the guy that had everything given to him? <Florida comes to mind>

Something else is springing to mind here, is it just me or didn't G.W. have a giant press conference on an aircraft carrier, hmmm, over a year ago, saying: "Mission Accomplished"?  Proudly wearing the flight suit he should have worn when he had the chance, purposely holding up the reunion of soldiers to their anxious, worried and relieved families for hours and hours so that he could get his P.R. shots!  Talk about 'Flip-Flopping'-did we win George or didn't we?  Cut to today: fingers crossed, ah sh*t, the war is still on.  How the hell did that happen? "Oh, George......You have sum esplainin' to do!"

Let's get this right-In simplest terms, calling people that are defending their own country terrorists is not correct, they are soldiers, they are resisting occupation from an outside source.  They are not terrorists as G.W. and the rest would have you believe.  So who are we fighting?  Who are these threats to our country?  These monsters under the bed?  I don't know either!!!  Isn't that funny.  We have troops risking their lives against an enemy and bless them with every respect, with every prayer I can muster <stay safe> but they are not fighting terrorists or terrorism.

Let me ask something here:  What are you honestly more afraid of?  Scared of?  "Some piped up,Small arms show....Nuclear baby, nuclear under cared for lunatic, hoodlum, drug addict robbing, crippling, raping or killing you or someone you love?"--or--Abdul the terrorist, who is equally as visible as he is invisible, coming to a town you live in or live near, with his little shoe bomb?

Come on now!!!  Are parent's telling their 6 year olds, "Now sweetie, strangers, child molesters, drinking kitchen chemicals, sticking a fork in an electrical outlet, leaving you alone to take a bath, running with scissors, no you're not Superman/woman so don't jump off the roof, don't eat junk food, brush and floss, look both ways-crosswalk thing?  Forget it, keep an eye out for a definition of terrorism that is so wide it doesn't even rule out Mother Teresa...Okay honey have a nice day."  Pleeaassse!  G.W. wants to make it so you can get mugged, murdered or raped without the 'greater' fear of terrorism, by hard working American muggers, murderers and rapists.

peace and light

P.S.  Do you want to read a political rant of mine from two years ago?  Click here, funny how things stay the same, even though 'they' tell us it's better now...

9/02/2004

Anyone catch the 'Rah-Rah-Rah' of the Republican National Convention?  They are still hanging on to the ol' "Terror" tactic.

George and all these lifeless republicans reminded me of Vincent Price in the movie, "House of Wax".  I could never get over George's beedy eyes and that half assed grin. All he needs is the curly mustache and black top hat and we have action.

Georgie boy loves to use the 'Not on my watch' line.  But, it's true, there are alot of things not being done on 'his' watch: The economy is still hurting , the troops are still being killed in a war that even George said was mistakenly misplanned.  What else?  Umemployment?  Still atrocious. Health care? What health care?  Iran?  Weapons of Mass Destruction?  More like: Words of Mass Deception.

Ten days since the last update and the Olympics are almost over.  What's happened?  Our illustrious team of NBA stars has taken the.....ta da.....Bronze!  Ordinarilly, I would honestly feel that any placing in the Olympics would be such a wonderful compliment to the participants that have trained so very hard to compete, place, medal-whatever the case may be.  But when it comes down to basketball?  It should have been business as usual-America kicking the shit out of everyone, playing with pride, confidence and passion.  I'm not knocking the talent or ability of these players, I'm questioning their hearts.  I'm questioning what has almost become common place in the NBA-playing soft, playing the game and hoping to charge at one point and win with a push sometime in the 3rd or 4th quarter. Much like the Pistons win over the Lakers, we had players from other countries, playing to win, in every quarter, with every shot having the same meaning as the next, or the last.

8/20/2004
What's up?  What's new?  First, I've had the Olympics on just about round the clock since they started.  I have been so jazzed about them.  Win or lose, you are an elite athlete, taking on the best the planet has to offer. Michael Phelps has just dominated swimming.  Power and poise from a 19 year old, who also unselfishly gave up his spot, a spot he won, to his teammate saying, "We came here as a team, we'll leave as a team."  Ya taking notes Kobe? Speaking of basketball...

How about those pampered, rather be cool NBA 'Bad Dream' Team?  Larry Brown said it best: "We have a bunch of guys that would rather 'look' cool than play basketball."  That ain't gonna cut it.  You have to deliver the goods and it's sad that they are so mediocre.  Just another sign that there will never be another MJ.  Michael <as well as, others> took the previous Olympics loss as an insult, one they never wanted to repeat, as a matter of pride.  Pride in the sport of basketball and it's history started here in the US.  Now?  We have a bunch of spoiled millionaires that "think" they are every bit as hungry, talented, and proud as Jordan was/is.  Trouble is, as is always the case, the proof is in the puddin'.  But it's like Phil Jackson said once, "You can't teach desire."

Okay, what else?  I want to give out a shout to a rock group I went to go see Thursday night in Old Mesilla NM, at the 'El Patio' bar:  Soulstice.  A really good band that you locals will be hearing alot more of.  A group of younger musicians that want to take their band past the 'tired, tried and true' bar band standards.  If you are a local 'desert rat' you should go and catch them, it was a fun evening.

6/16/2004
Hello, a big hello and okay, let's get at it.  Goodbye Lakers!!!  Everyone and their mother kept telling me, "The Lakers are going to win."  Yeah right.  So many teams would just 'give in', give up and lose to the Lakers-as if that was what every team was supposed to do for them.  The Piston's should have swept them, but they made a few mental errors, but that's okay, they won and they won convincingly, and in 5 games!  Boxers used to do the same thing when they faced Mike Tyson, they would be defeated before they even fought him.  The classic bully scenario, until someone stands up and doesn't take it from him/them.  That's what the Piston's did, they were not going to hand the Lakers the trophy.

With all the talent the Lakers have, with all the superstars that are a part of that team, they should have just run over people.  But I have to use the word 'team' loosely, because they never played like a team.  Never.  Much like the Dallas Cowboys, they relied on 'hail mary' shots and fluke plays to win.

Kobe is not the superstar everyone mistakenly makes him out to be.  He is a very talented player, he was given a great gift but he is not a leader, he is not a true champion or team player.  He lives for the press, the highlights and whenever the Laker's have needed him to step up and take over a game, he hasn't.  The pretty dunks, the showboat passing and need for the limelight were always done when the game was already in the bag.  When it's come down to crunch time, he's always 'air-balled' three pointers, hogged the ball and put up extremely questionable shots.

Karl Malone and Gary Payton have never had the desire to win.  They are incredible players, do not get me wrong, but they don't know how to win the big one.  They don't have the guts to win. They are two players that took paycuts to win a ring.  They left their old teams, left loyalty for self gratification-Now what?

Shaq?  I like Shaq, he's a tremendous force on the floor, but he's just a dunking machine.  Really doesn't have the skills that other great centers have had in their position.  The Pistons really showed alot of teams how to play Shaq and wear him down without fouling him.

Phil Jackson and the coaching staff?  My West Coast Bulls.  I have nothing bad to say about them. I love the coaching staff.  I think Phil and the gang are just genius.  I hate to see Phil lose.  I am so torn with his move to LA. Begrudgenly, I always hated to see the Lakers win, but I was always happy to see the coaching staff win.  The Lakers would <and will not> have won without that coaching staff.  Phil said he will more than likely not be back next year, if that's the case, the Lakers will not hold the championship trophy for a long long time.

I'm so sure and would bet that Kobe has alot to do with Phil leaving. The Lakers are going to kiss his butt and get rid of Phil.  Kobe has never liked Phil, and now that they got beaten <much is Kobe's fault, you get in the air with a double team-a player or two is open, where were you big man?>, he'll use that as leverage, otherwise he'll leave LA.  I'll bet you.  If Kobe had it his way, he'd be the only guy on the team!  No coaching staff, no teammates, nothing but him, it's all about him...You watch, he'll stay in LA, as long as Phil retires.  He's never liked Phil.  In defeat he can say, "Oh, I love Phil, blah, blah, blah" because he knows that Phil has been politely asked to leave.

Michael Jordan he isn't and he never will never be.  MJ made his whole team better.  When he needed to step up and take a game over, he would, time and time again.  A true, team player. When asked what motivates him after winning so many championships, his answer was always, "They're are new people on this team that haven't won a championship yet, I want to help them win one". MJ was always selfish to win, but unselfish to help lead the team to win.  He trusted Phil and his vision for the Bulls championship runs.  He worked the triangle offense to perfection, if he could work within it and create something, he would.  If he drove to the hoop and couldn't produce, he would find the open man.  His aeorobatics, his talent, his genius was used to help the team win ballgames, win championships.

Finally, basketball has a true team win the championship!  A team that understood what it means to play together, play to win, a sum greater than the parts.

5/07/2004
Hello, just wanted to spout out about some recent news items.  Donald, Donald, Donald.  What can I say?  The Bush team just keeps sinking deeper and deeper.
Iraqi prisoners are and have been tortured and molested in every sense of the word in the Abu Ghraib prison outside Baghdad.  This has been going on since January, well, that is the first report anyway, it was probably going on longer than that. The Red Cross warned the US of abuse of prisoners over a year ago.  Level headed people are calling for his resignation.  He's taking responsibility because it happened on his watch...but he's not listening to reason, or everyone that want's him to resign.  I quote:

"I would not resign simply because people try to make a political issue out of it," he added.

Okay...anyone get the reasoning here?  "It" isn't a political issue?  Aren't these the same group of people that chimed in and dragged out Clinton's little personal fiasco?  After all it happened under Bill's watch. Oh right, that was a voluntary exchange by both parties.  The involentary physical, sexual and mental abuse that the Iraqi prisoners suffered couldn't possibly be a political issue.

Good, big hearted Mr. Rumsfeld wants to compensate-or should we say 'Pay Off' the Iraque prisoners that are on the numerous photographs and <not yet unearthed> videos of the appalling actions of some, not all, of our so-called 'Heros'.

"I'm seeking a way to provide appropriate compensation to those detainees who suffered such grievous and brutal abuse and cruelty at the hands of a few members of the United States armed forces," he said.

"It's the right thing to do," he added.

Man, you have to really be $RICH$ to continually think in terms of  finacial compensation as your first line of fixing anything.  He's not stepping down...this obviously isn't a grand enough issue to be asked to resign I guess. And Mr. Bushie has no intention of letting him go.  Go figure.  What do you expect from a regime that ignored the United Nations, the citizens of the world and the Geneva Convention...Hello!!!!  Can anyone say 'war crimes' here?

Like an automaton, Lil' Bush has repeated over and over, time and time again, that law must bend to 'his' idea of National security as 'he' defines it.  This overshadows our commitments to domestic law, international law and public opinion.  So he'll bend it like Gumby.  Or to use Lil' George's terminology, anyone considered  <by him and his glorious god fearing> administration as an "unlawful combatant" will not be under the protection of the 3rd Geneva Convention, because they are not regular soldiers, they are terrorist, spies or any of the other broad definitions they make fit anyone they don't like.   Under the 3rd Geneva Convention: a prisoner's war status must be decided by a "competant tribunal"-like on Survivor, for those of you that watch that stuff.  At least Baby Bush's father provided tribunals for prisoners taken during the Persian Gulf War.

This reminds me of something I heard during the Rodney King days, a black gentleman being interviewed was asked his opinion of the beating.  He replied, "The white folks are shocked that something like this could happen, we said it's about time they got caught doing it."  National security works like this, we are the general public because we're not informed of these secret bombings, killings, abuses and atrocities.  So many bury their heads in the proverbial sand and believe with every ounce of their hearts and minds that 'we' don't do this stuff. These abuses are not secret to the people that are being hurt, they are only secret to us, the general public. Bush's people knew something we didn't, but now we know, we're asking for your resignation Donald, we won't elect you 'officially' this time either Mr. Bush.

Yogi Berra said it, "It ain't over until it's over".  This ain't over, believe me the public outcry will be staggering. The other nations that are wanting better answers than the ones given by Dapper Don will have their voices heard.  You will have to resign after all this, you watch.

Hello Hello Hello, Life is good isn't it?  To quote Triumph the Insult Comic Dog-"AhhYesssss". haha. Well I got a great update tonight.  Got to meet Joe Satriani once again.  Yeah, it's getting boring now...NOT!  He was on a little tour to promote his great new cd "Is There Love In Space".
Click on the picture for my other Joe and Eric Johnson story and shots.

The great guy he is and I

Anyways, here is the short story on how I almost missed meeting Joe.  I had gotten an email from Joe Satriani, well his website sent out a mass emailing to every subscriber to his site! haha  It just sounds better the first way...so Joe emails me <play along will ya?> It's telling me that he, the 'great guy that he is', will be doing a small promotional tour to support his new cd.  He was going to do jams at music stores and visit radio stations.  Okay, he's coming to El Paso, to visit the KLAQ studios, which is a few towns away from me.  I foolishly leave late, <I didn't know he'd be jamming at the radio stations, I thought that was just for music stores> and haul ass, <a few towns away I remind you> so my trusty Kia Sportage and I go flying down the highway.  I'm listening to the radio show, cursing myself for not leaving earlier and not by the way, knowing where I'm heading.  I've never been to the KLAQ studios.  I don't know where they are.  But I have determination and something I rely on quite often: Intuition.

The show is short, they start to wrap it up and I'm still a town away!  My plan was to hit a store and ask where the studio is, but I figure Mr. Satriani would be doing something, getting a bite to eat, talking, be 'the great guy he is' and be meeting all the people at KLAQ and the fans that 'were' smart enough to show up early.  I figure I have an hour.

Heading into El Paso, I take an exit, intuitively, make a left and come up to a crossroads <No seriously, I'm on a crossroads!> the road leads Left, straight ahead into a dead end, and Right.  I'm in the middle lane, going nowhere <literally>, something <intuition> tells me, "Go right".  I let traffic clear and move into the right lane, and there's the studio!  I hurry out, head to the building and the doors are all shut and secure.  I knock on the glass door and a person walking by hears and sees me.  I ask if Joe is still there, he gets someone and I ask again.  I let him know I've driven forever to get there.  He let's me in and is extremely cool <as was everyone there>, and hurries me to the back where we see Joe getting into the tour bus!  As I'm heading to the bus, the gentleman yells out that I've driven a long way and if I could see Joe.  <Very cool>  And even cooler is Joe's crew who ask him to come out! Cooler than that is Joe stepping off the bus with a big smile being 'the great guy he is' and being so kind as to sign my "Satriani: Guitar Secrets" book and all the cd's and dvd's that hadn't been released when I met him the last time.

I almost missed the guy, literally by seconds.  Wrong turn here, no Joe.  Slow down here, no Joe. Someone doesn't hear me knock, no Joe.  I'm lucky enough to have had the wonderful god/goddess upstairs moving me around by remote control.

At least I met him again, shame shame shame on all you guys/gals I invited to go with, and once again said, "Ah, I can't make it."  "I'm busy with______", whatever.  No hard feelings to you people, but it was fun and maybe if you did come along, I may have missed seeing him...soooo thanks for not coming with this time!

Thank you KLAQ and a giant thank you to Joe Satriani for being 'the great guy he is'.  Thank you intuition, for getting me there-where I didn't know where 'there' was.  I told Joe I didn't know my way around El Paso and he said, "It's okay, we don't either". haha

And just as fun, just as great was getting to my brother's house and seeing my oldest nephew get ready for his prom.  Looking handsome, his date/girlfriend Chelsea looking pretty and sharing my story with everyone.  Like you all.  Great moments all the way around, life is good, it's always good.

Soon I'll be posting a extended review of not only Joe's new cd but one of Ani DiFranco's incredible new cd "Educated Guess".  Later.

Next....Well, just going over the ol' local newspaper, I came across a front page article on our local high school installing cameras in the school, that can be accessed from the internet so our 'officials' can keep an eye on things.  Big Brother is tip toeing into Deming with all the grace of a wild herd of elephants. Only a matter of time before the school id's become little 'chipped' trackers, imbedded with all kinds of personal info or little file folders with all your 'activities' being beemed to 'whomever'.  Kid's will have to one day, scan into their school in the morning <they'll have the time, if you were late, ect>.  They'll have to scan into every class and every activity.  If they want to eat they'll have to have their scan card, or they won't eat.  If they ditch they'll have some form of RFID <radio frequency identification> to know where they are.  So much for civil liberties.

How hard would it be to 'trick' us gullible americans into 'agreeing' or 'complying' with this brave new world technology?  Y'know, not to hard.  We buy every aweful do-dad under the sun, we buy into bad tv and movie plots, why not this?  Hey, we as major consumers of all kinds of crap could get lured into using this kind of Orwellian technology, pretty easily. We've become so dependant on the cheaper and better deal, let's get kids and adults to use this new method of babysitting by offering discounts at stores, movie theatres, bookstores, buying your cd's and dvd's...  "Hmmm, let's get them where they breathe." If that fails then they can make it mandatory under the ol' Patriot Act Revision Pact?  It will all be introduced as "it's for everyone's safety, if you've done nothing wrong then why are you resisting" propaganda/mentality.  It'll be wrapped up in a Bushish "Any true patriotic american will not resist this measure of national security" bullsh*t.  So much for your civil rights.

Think that's far fetched?  You'd be surprised,  it's implementation is already being talked about in Great Britian. Get asked for your id card, they'll know: What you've bought, what you've rented, what bills did or didn't get paid, what movies or books you've rented, your medical history, what's in your bank accounts, what political or religious affiliations you're a member of, your marital status and family history, what car/s you drive, criminal background, what phone calls you've made or received, ect ect ect.  In fact why would they have to ask?  Testing is already going on with products you buy in stores being imbedded with this RFID stuff.  Why would they do that?  To be able to keep track of inventory, you could push your shopping cart around and have sales items beeped onto your cart's computer screen.  Or, hey, if you buy a soda and they find it near a crime scene, they'll know where to start looking.

Living in obvilion...

Hello again.  What's up?  So here we go, Do you think the search for Osama is gonna come to a big 'Hollywood' type ending right before the elections? I have a gut feeling that they know where he is and in the typical 'what's in it for me' political arena, he's being kept underwraps and gonna be unveiled just like King Kong was, then we're all supposed to go apeshit and re-elect a man that didn't win the election the last time around.  That's how ya cheat at cards, ya hide that ace until you need it.  Come on now, how hard is it to find a guy that's six foot five inches tall and on dialysis
? We have technology that can read the face of a penny from space, but we can't find one of the tallest guys in the Middle East.  Oh well, he's probably being protected by the government in Saudi Arabia, with a 'hands off, you can have Irag, but not him' policy.

Went through the ol' mail and got my financial piece of the huge 'Compact Disc Minimum Advertised Price Antitrust Litigation' Lawsuit!  My cut?  $13.86!  Well, that's almost enough for a free cd.  Here it is:

February, 2004

Dear New Mexico Music Purchaser:

As Attorney General for the State of New Mexico,  I am
pleased to enclose payment for your claim in the settlement
of the Compact Disc Minimum Advertised Price Antitrust
Litigation.  This lawsuit was brought by the Attorneys General
of 43 states and three territories and by counsel for Private
Class Plaintiffs on behalf of purchasers of music CDs.  In
accordance with the terms of the court-approved settlement,
payment is being made to music purchasers who filed a valid
and timely claim.

Whether you filed your claim online at the settlement web
site, www.MusicCDSettlement.com, or by mail, the attached
payment represents full payment of your portion of the
Settlement.  Please note that the attached payment
instrument must be cashed by May 20, 2004.

It is a pleasure to bring this matter to a satisfactory
conclusion and to return value to consumers who purchased
CDs while the challenged pricing policies were in effect.

Patricia A. Madrid
Attorney General of New Mexico

So there you go my peeps, the court system in action.  Now if there were only some way we could sue the hell out of all these no talent bands to STOP creating cds!  Now that would be cool.  None the less, my $13.86 will go to the light bill.  A mid price cost to make a cd is about a buck.  A record company sells them at like 8 to 10 bucks to a record store, that sells six million units.  Hey, 54 million dollars profit on one artist ain't bad.  If they have 9 or so who sell that many...well...you do the math, it's easy to see why they don't want CD prices to fall.  But, I struck one for the masses here, I spanked the big boys for you people!  A true David vs Goliath here.  I am the 'rubber tree', 'the little engine' that could. Thanks Patricia for helping me and many others to 'Pimp' slap the very business I hope to sell millions of overpriced cds in.  Isn't that Ironic...don't ya think?

Man or Monkey? You decide From the studio that brought you "The Planet of the Apes", Fox Movies has publically announced at a Hollywood press conference that Michael Jackson will not be starring in the sequel, "POA-2, Monkey Forever".

Director Tim Burton lead a worldwide search for an actor that could handle the role.  Following Michael into the auditions were not only years of study with Bubbles but an extreme form of method acting, right from the Lon Chaney school of facial mutilation that had Jacko manipulating his face to transform into the role.  Michael had every opportunity to showcase his talents as an ape, but he just couldn't convince Burton and execs involved with the project to land him the role.

With everything going on in the entertainer's life, this was a great blow to his attempts at a comeback. While Jackson's press secretary did not specifically mention any other promising roles for her client, rumors are still going around Hollywood that Michael is in negotioations to star as both Freddy and Jason in the new Nightmare/Friday the 13th horror movie.  Saving the company millions in make up and special effects.

Just got back from Anaheim CA.  What a gorgeous city, but then I love getting out every now and again and enjoying different cities.  Flew over for business but got to enjoy my evenings doing one of the things I really love: running.  Got to see a few places I didn't on my earlier trip.  On our first night there I took a gorgeous 8 and a half  mile run from our hotel to Edison Field/California Angels Stadium. What a great run that was.  Loving every step as I crossed street after street watching the stadium getting bigger and bigger.  I did it for my older brother Fern who is a major baseball fan.  I touched the left field ticket booth and ran back to the hotel.  Every other night I spent running around the Disneyland exterior.  Great weather and the Anaheim Convention Center was so gorgeous.  On my last night in Anaheim I enjoyed a very nice dip and swim in the hotel pool and hot tub.  It was so relaxing and I slept like a rock that night.  Just makes you love life....

What's new Magoo?  Well, went to Tucson with my older brother Fern, his kids: Fernie Jr. and Myles. Fernie's girlfriend Chelsea and her brother, Dillon.
We all went to catch some spring training with the Colorado Rockies. Was very cool, the big guns won't be there until next weekend but it was great to see and get pictures of Royce Clayton, Sandy Alomar Sr., Goose Gossage, Denny Neagle, Turk Wendell.

Loved watching Charles Johnson dent a bunch of rv's in the parking lot!  Saw a homerun ball fly over and smash through an rv's back window!  It left a perfect round hole, I got a picture of it to prove it. Awesome fun time.

Hung out at Guitar Center after eating at Lucky Wishbone.  Then it was off to the Krispy Kreme, oh yeah, that stuff rocks.

But one of the most important parts of the 22nd...it was my sis Aubrey's birthday!  Alright sis, congrats and I'm glad your day was awesome.  Luv ya much!!!!

Ah, newly shorn, newly shaved, I look like a teenage kid again! haha  All my hair is going to make it's way to one of my favorite charities: Locks of Love.  This is the first time in my life that I had grown my hair all one length, all the way around.  So much for the great 'Crow' experiment.  I wanted to grow it all out so it looked as cool as Brandon Lee's in the movie 'The Crow'.  I got tired of it about 6 months ago but my regular/only stylist Cathy Gutierrez <no relation, but I'll claim her anyday> from the Illusions salon, would not let me cut it!  She was refusing my money so that she would she me through this little project of mine. haha  None of my other buds at Illusions would cut it either, thanks Chip and Abbey! haha  Could I have gone to another salon?  Of course, but I'm a loyal sort and needed to have it cut in the same salon at least.  So I will gather together all the locks and zip lock them and send them off soon.  Give till it hurts! hahahaha

Waiting for the wonderful goings on with those silly "American Idol" kiddies, I did stumble upon a wonderful comedy: "The State of the Union Address"!  Yippy!  Can't believe he can say all the 'rah rah' stuff with
a straight face!  And all the clapping and standing by all these Demuplicans is the most exercise these fogies have gotten in a long time!  They'll be sore in the morning.  Welcome to the American Republican Pep Rally and the "Let's go and get them" rhetoric!

He wants to be less dependant on foreign sources of energy-Of course he can say that now!  Yes, we can only try, now that we've proverbially kicked Iraq's nuts to their throats! Duh!

Control spending?  Ha, when has that happened?  What about his Domestic policies?  Didn't hear nothing about that tonight.  He says we need to renew the Patriot Act, oh god NO!!!  Please people, read this evil little document.

The economy is in da toilet-so many of us are one job loss away from homelessness.  Living pay check to pay check and in some instances living into the next paycheck to cover bills.  And without close friends and family, many of us would be out on the streets.  Education?  Everyone, young and old should be able to attend some form of higher education. Make schooling a reality for everyone, I would have loved to have gone to college if I didn't have to work everyday of my life to survive!

He's reaching into the ol' "Get me through November" grab bag of goodies here folks.  He's promising everything but the moon....uh, well he did promise the moon, didn't he?  Literally.   Alright, alright, it's almost 8:30pm, bring on some real entertainment!  Simon, what did you think of the president's speech?  Bloody awful.

Crossroads.  Don't you all love crossroads?  As a musician a crossroad, especially in the blues genre, represents a meeting with the devil.  A place where a musician will go and sell his soul.  I'm at a crossroads in my life.  I ran into the proverbial devil but I wouldn't sell my soul.  I'm feeling a feeling of wonderment.  Wondering where my life is going to go now.  Not to weird ah?  Everyone goes through that don't ya think?

I'm very much starting over again.  Changing jobs, friends ect.  Not entirely a bad thing by the way. I wasn't entirely happy in the place I was but now I am seeing it as a break in the clouds.  What's this guy saying?  Well, it's to much to get into but the general premise is this: There are moments when you know fate is truly working with you.  Ever ask 'All That Is', "What's in store for me? "Please, show me the way."  And that kind of stuff?  Well, I have and since I've asked that I have found a greater amount of relief come into my life than had previously been. Sure there will be challenges ahead, some major ones but if this is the way my life must play out, then so be it.  I'll trust in fate and destiny.

So, as we start the new year off, I wish you all peace and light, to friends I've lost, Bless you.  To all my other buddies in this world that are still here, I Love You, to the others that have stepped away for a bit and have come into my life again.  I Love you all too, even though we may not speak as much, you are all in my thoughts, my heart and you are always welcome.

8/24/03
Hello out there.  Updating again, just came off a vacation in California.  I loved the beaches, they were truly beautiful.  I wanted to take a few days to reflect and recoup.  Here's a pic from a beach in Dana Point called 'Doheny'.  It was taken at about 7am, Thursday morning.  Nothing like a nice walk on the beach, aye. Very gorgeous.  Take a look... Lost in thought...

I experienced one of the most truly spiritual moments I have ever had just the night before.  I had gone on this vacation to spend time with a dear friend.  A big sweetie that had been one of my best friends over the years.  On the night of 'my' event I found myself all alone.  The ocean was roaring, I was staring out, looking at all the stars.  The moon was making it's appearance over my left shoulder. A sweet breeze was blowing from the west.     Everything was absolutely perfect.

Earlier in the week, my friend on the drive up had accidently broken my headphones when she climbed into the backseat to sleep.  I'm sitting there on the beach, cupping my headpones to my head, listening to Ani's song 'Grey' over and over again.  As I was listening, the words and music just got the better of me, met a certain loneliness I was feeling and I started to cry.

The thoughts of sad events, both past and present just hit me.  All these thoughts came to mind and just jumped at me and attacked.  They just got the better of me.  Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is cry and face those ugly demons that find you alone.  Alot of these sad thoughts hide just below the surface, waiting for a moment to become real.  You may even try and hide these emotions, because you're not ready to face them.  I was feeling everything from the fears we all go through, stress, to just plain frustration.  Frustration I wanted to express but I didn't or wouldn't, for my own reasons.

The ocean waves were crashing just out of my reach, calling to me.  They pulled all these emotions out of me. But as I was crying, I felt peace envelope the sadness.  In a fraction of a second it all had changed.  My mindset grew to a comforting joy.  I was crying out of happiness.  I felt tears coming out of total grace.  I started to cry for the blessing that is my life.  As good or as bad as it has been or can get, I knew that I truly love my life, I love my family and friends.  <Crazy huh?>  I start to feel the warmth of happiness, I'm talking out loud to the spirits out there, talking to 'All That Is'.  I'm expressing how thankful I am, how blown away I am that he/she could create such a gorgeous world.  I was now listening to 'AnyDay' by Ani and in my release, my playfullness I say, "I would love to see a shooting star fly over."  As soon as I said it, a star shoots right over my head and sails right over the ocean!  No lie.  I lose it, I crack up laughing with tears gushing from my eyes.  I remember thinking that the god/goddess upstairs is just showing off now!  I'm hysterical and not able to contain my joy, I ask for another one, and another one streaks across the heavens right over my head again!  Words escape me...It was the most celestial moment I have ever experienced. A moment that will forever live with me.

No matter how things are going in your life, whether you believe in some god/goddess, divinity, fate, random chance,  whatever...miracles come into your life and help you to see the world with new eyes. They come into your life and help you to find comfort and strength.  Wish I had my guitar with me, the melodies were singing so deep in my soul.

In the depth of this moment, this memory was a personal conversation with the Divine.  A moment when my words connected with a heavenly response, a whisper.  Now, I always feel a spiritual connection whenever I play guitar, when I run, ect, but this was truly a moment when Grace and Beauty set aside everything to hear me for a couple of minutes.  For a brief moment I had the ear of god.

Love life everyone, love the time you have and remember, "Without the bitter baby, the sweet, ain't as sweet".

Here's a quick update to say Hello.  The new server is working great, no problems at all.  I'm getting ready to go on vacation and check out some surf with a great friend of mine.  Pictures may follow.

Added a new address in the 'Hot Links' section to 'The Acting Depot'.  James Gallo wrote a nice little email and let me know about it.  The Acting Depot is a wonderful resource filled with everything and anything acting.  From making contacts, who to contact, contracts, auditions, even some nice sections on what you may need to look a bit more professional, alot of which you musicians can use to spruce up your presentations.  Very cool and thanks to James for writing.  I'll be checking out your site in greater detail!

Until the next update and after the vacation.  Take care and we'll see ya.

Hello again, the updates have been very slow, why?  I'll tell you why.  After a long battle to see if Zianet.com could get their shit together and help a customer upload files onto their new server, I opted out and went with another host.  Zianet's technical support makes Beavis and Butthead look like a couple of Rhodes scholars.  As a company, you can go ahead and ignore and not help your customers, but this customer will put out the word on your lack of customer care. Maybe they didn't like my 'Bush' rants?

The Ani DiFranco section has been officially started and updated with some great shots and musings. Check out the Julie Wolf page as well.  They're both in the 'Hot Links' section.

So, what else is new?  What's been new?  Well, Strom 'heil Hitler' Thurmon has bit the dust, finally, after 100 years of bullshit.  They say only the good die young........guess that's true.  Mr. Bush, is still looking for: Weapons of Mass Destruction, Osama and Saddam.  He has no interest in Domestic issues, the 'failing' economy, lower taxes for the poor, or say-the 'truth'.  We will however see some of the most incredible spin doctoring in history when the big elections roll around again.  The damage control is already being mapped out.  This guy wanted to go in with his little report card and say, "I rid the world of evil, I brought peace to the middle east, I have offered up the heads of all the evil leaders on a plate, I am the loyal and unbending will of God."  Should read more like: "People have been murdered many innocent human beings-both foreign and domestic for my own "go it alone' ethos, lost control of my good ol' boy Texan ways, ignored the people of my 'God bless America' America, never heard any of the not rich like me economy, terrorized the US citizens with all the Homeland Security-they're going to get you, when you least expect it rhetoric."  Mr. Bush, you are the 7 deadly sins: Pride, Greed, Lust, Anger, Gluttony, Envy and Sloth.

Oh well, "ReElect Gore in 2004".

5/7/03
Hello, finally a spare moment to write a few lines and say hey.  What's new?  I'm still recovering from the two great, wonderful, fantastic Ani DiFranco shows!  What an incredible talent.  I can either speak about her and what she means to me for hours on end or I'm just speechless.  Lucky for you I'm still speechless.  What a remarkable artist.  She's so radiant. To see her play solo, for two shows, was a treasure.  I've seen many, and I mean many artists, and not one, not any three, compare to the magic I feel when I get to see Ani DiFranco in concert.  Her new album 'Evolve' is beautiful, it's shows an artist that has never stopped growing.  Ani 's compositional talents are very much in evidence here.  This album is a swan song of sorts, it's the last album she recorded with her old band, a band she had watched 'evolve' from only Andy-her old drummer and cohort, to a trio, quartet, to a full blown band with a horn section.  I'm always taken aback when I listen to any one of her albums because there are no weak, or 'filler' tracks.  How many albums do you own  that only have one or say 5 tracks that you love and all the others you can do without?  Ani's musical ability and integrity are as precise as a swiss time piece.  Consistent quality from the opening song until the last.  Quality only afforded an artist that has to answer only to herself and not some board of directors.

I will write more on Ani, I'm waiting to catch myself in that 'talkative' mood when I'm on the computer.  My journal is filled with the moment by moment excitement of the anticipation of seeing her and also the exhilaration and release after loving every note she's played and sang.

Ah, war is on, Operation Liberation in the house.  There are two kinds of liberation going to go on: Iraq from it's oil and lives from peoples bodies.  Was it just me or did any of you have trouble sleeping the night of the first big wave of bombing?  I'm in a nice comfy bed, all bundled up, my only worry is getting my ass out of bed in the morning, yet, I'm thinking about all the innocent lives that are going to be in harm's way.  There are alot of people that think all people from Iraq are 'EVIL' and 'deserve what happens to them'.  When you tuck in your children, think of the human beings being bombarded, under those circumstances doing the same thing.  Now don't get me wrong, I think Saddam is an asshole, his group are a bunch of assholes, but I think war is wrong cuz' death is inevitable.  Murder is murder folks, it's meaning doesn't change when you go "Oooops, one of our bombs accidentally leveled a hospital, sorry".

I am against war.  I am for LIFE.  But, under the circumstances, I am for our troops, I wish them well.  Be very safe ladies and gentleman, take care of each other!!!  I don't like hearing that lives are being lost, ours or theirs.  Most of the protest have been about that very thing, "We support our troops, be safe, come home alive and well, but war is not the way".  Unless you're Cheney and you can get big big contracts to help build Iraq again.  Who do you think was involved in the rebuilding after 'Desert Storm'?  Don't ya think oil rights aren't being sold right now?  Contracts, special money's being paid-France-Hello!!!!  War is big business, especially for the rich.

It's easy to forget that these newly liberated people are also going to be without food, shelter, money, sewer, bed, even proper medical help for quite some time.  Our economy is bad enough, how do you think the everyday 'good' Iraque people are going to benefit with everything in shambles?  How quickly are they going to benefit from giant chains like McDonalds and the Gap?  Tommy jeans for all of you, come on this shit makes you somebody in this world.  Mark my words, you'll see it on tv in a few years.  Wolf Blitzer will be having a special report on the new Burger King in Baghdad, picture it.  A bunch of war torn teens, physically and mentally scared by war, wearing the uniform, beautiful brown faces, big smiles, wondering why 'this makes me so free'?  They'll be bustin' their ass for next to nothing.  It'll be something to see a bunch of newly liberated, religious people cooking up sacred cows for the masses.  Can't you hear Wolf commenting on how different and great all things are now...

Anyway, here are some killer sites I've found first is 'Get you War on' a hilarious online cartoon strip!  You'll laugh your ass off.  And there is also 'Women Who Rock' magazine, I picked up the issue with Ani on the cover, it's a great mag and women do rock!!! By the way.  Oh and there is also 'KLPX' online arcade!  Now this is cool, KLPX is a rock radio station is Tucson, and they have a page filled with all your old favorites: Asteroids, Frogger, Pac Man ect ect.  You'll have a blast, take care and we'll see ya later.

Ah, another update, this time a nice happy one.  On February 6th I got the extreme pleasure of not only seeing Joe Satriani in concert, from 6 feet away!!!.  I also got the great honor of meeting him at the aftershow.  Now that was a gift.  The man signed my entire 'Satch' cd collection.  What a wonderful person he is.  He is surrounded by really great people, alot of which I met and thanked.  I had some time to think <thank god> before I got my time with Joe.  He walked up and shook my hand and said hello.  I said, "First off, Joe, this moment for me is what it would have been for you, if you could have met Hendrix."  I got to congratulate him on not only the 'Governor's Award' being presented to him in San Francisco in a few days, but also wished him the best of luck at the Grammies, which he's nominated, for his song "Starry Night".  Good luck Joe and thank you for your talent and the kind words.  Oh, yeah, being that I was so close, how about the fact that this guy played 70% of his 2 hour show with his eyes closed?  Yeah, the man is bad!!!

Ever see that 'Juicy Fruit' commercial?  Double your pleasure.  Well, I also got see and meet Eric Johnson as well!  A week to the day after Joe, how cool is that?  Well, let's make it triple the pleasure because I also got to share this moment with my nephew Fernie.  I think that rocked as much as anything.  So my wonderfully talented nephew, 'thanks, and I love you much".  Bubba, as I nicknamed him when he was a tiny lad <remember that Sunday?, she hated it, told me to never call him that again, and one day, without even realizing it, she yelled out to him: "Bubba!"haha>, anyway he got a crap load of Eric's autographs!  We got my brother Fern's Strats signed.

Now there were a few people whom I invited/told about these shows 'way in advance' so that they could go to one or both of these shows with me....I had an extra backstage pass for Satriani <also signed, thanks Joe>.  Anyway, you know who you people are, sorry you didn't/couldn't/wouldn't make/plan the time to check out these shows.  Once in a lifetime opportunities do not grow on trees!  How many people said, "Oh, I'll check out Stevie Ray next time"?  "Oh yeah, well I'll catch Michael Hedges in a couple of months"  Living for another day just blows.  Cuz, the above were my inner dialogs when these guys would play Albuquerque almost twice a year.  No more man.  Speaking of which, my goddess Ani DiFranco will be in Santa Fe and the next day in Tucson,
well.... guess who is going to take another of his famous 'Ani Vacations'?  That's right, yours truly.  I just bought my Santa Fe ticket, will get my Tucson ticket on Monday.  Her cd 'Evolve' comes out in about two weeks, I've heard every track, either in concert, bootleg or on her website, so go over there and check out four tracks!!!  I'm going to have an absolute blast watching my idol rock and roll, baby, you can count on that!  None of this "I'll catch her next time" bullshit.  How'd your days go while I was hanging out with legends??? haha  Hope you people had fun. :)  Here are the pics from the evenings out <Just ignore the ugly guy with the 'soul patch', >

It's with a heavy heart that I'm writing this lil' update.  I lost my grandmother this afternoon.  A woman that was like a second mother to me.  I grew up with a tremendous amount of love, love from my mother and father, from my grandmother and grandfather, family, ect.  I lived with my grandparents starting at about age 10.  I have so many precious memories of my grandmother, to many to mention here, but the one that comes to mind, the one that pertains to my love of music is this.

When I was first starting on guitar, I wanted to be a guitar hero.  But, my obvious lack of technique, feel, ect ect, was not a question in my mind! haha  I sucked!  I had rigged a little distortion box/stereo thing so that I could play with headphones.  I would crank this thing up to outrageous levels.  We lived in a very small house, one bathroom in the back of the place.  I was playing in my parents/our bedroom, if ya needed to get to the bathroom, you had to go through the bedroom.  My sweet hearted grandmother was walking to the bathroom.  When she came out, she asked what I was doing?  She wanted to hear me play.  <What do I know about playing anything?>  She puts on the headphones, I start to 'rip' away, thinking she'll tell me I suck! haha  She takes off the headphones, hands them to me, and she says, "You're going to be a Guitar Player!"  I have never, nor will I ever, forget that moment.

I left both my grandparents the same way, by telling them I loved them.  Those were the last words that were exchanged between us.  "Tita, I love you", "I love you too".

Bless you my beautiful grandmother, I love you so much, I'll miss you for the rest of my life, but I'll always carry you in my heart and soul.  Thank you for being my grandmother.  Thank you for sharing your life with me, forgiving me, encouraging me.  I'll remember you in the notes that I play, because I am a Guitar Player!  I love you.....

Angel Wings

Your body is slowly giving way
To the idea of angel wings
Your tiny body
Withered and torn
Waiting for that day

As I look into her tired eyes
that were always so alive
I ask myself why?
I would just like a simple reason
It just seems like a horrible lie

Trade in
Tired flesh and bone
And fly in the sky with
Angel Wings
Your pain is gone forever
How beautiful your spirit now flys

The world can hurt you
It can break you
But only for so long
Before your body can give up
Give in and celebrate it's new song

Hey there!  First and foremost, the new guitar is here!!!  I got it a couple of days ago.  On the 16th.  Check out the 'gear page' and look at this lovely little lady.  Named for Miss Ani DiFranco!  Much much 'thank you's' to Larry's Music for the quick delivery of my lil' precious.

Hmmm, what's new?  Here in my tiny home state of New Mexico, Santa Fe to be exact, we have the...tada...North Korean arms talks!  Small 'nuclear' world ain't it?  We <US gov> are going to play the payola game and offer up all kinds of monetary gains and benefits.  Let's hope everything doesn't revert back to the old game of teeter-totter on the 38th Parallel.  We'll see...

Happy days, some sound samples, <yes yes it's true> are on the way, and the Wet Willy Store, for all your funky WWM junk!  I hope Trent Lott had a great Martin Luther King Day!
