Macon's Cherry Blossom Festival was founded in 1982 by Carolyn Crayton, head of the Keep Macon Bibb Beautiful Commission.  The festival was an immediate success with the citizens of Macon, and grew rapidly and successfully.

Today the Macon Georgia International Cherry Blossom Festival is well known and widely recognized as being one of our nation's premier festivals.  The Cherry Blossom Festival often wins nation-wide recognition from the International Festivals and Events Association by winning prestigious Pinnacle Awards.

Carolyn Crayton has earned the Certified Festival Executive designation awarded by the IFEA in conjunction with Purdue University, and has been inducted as a member of the prestigious IFEA President's Circle.
