Technical Advisory Group B2.04
Electrical Aspects of Overhead Transmission Lines

The scope of TAG B2.04 covers the power transfer rating of Transmission Lines under steady, unsteady or transient states.  It studies and evaluates problems and phenomena that originate in the line's electrical functions, the aim being to define criteria and parameters for line design and power transfer rating.  The calculation methods used are either deterministic or probabilistic.  Moreover, studies are undertaken on:
  • Real time monitoring
  • Use of weather forecasts to optimize power transfer
  • Ageing of conductors and joints
  • High temperature conductors
  • Sag-tension calculations
