For all the people I want to tell that the Love is the most healthy and nice feeling on this Earth... The Love knows no borders, the Love knows no handicap, loves knows no religion, skin color or age... The love gives you the power to fight. The handicap made both of us, me and Larry, seeing the beauty of each thing, of each day, of each moment.

In May 2002, I have hears about a site where the people could share to me their experience about some possible treatments for the MD and about the adaptive technology. I filled few questions on the subscribing form and I submitted it. Next day I did receive an e-mail from an American man. He was Larry and he asked me if Maria, my nickname is also my real name... Larry told me that many ladies from his family had this name, Maria, and also his mother's name was Maria. My name bring up nice memories into Larry's mind... Then Larry wrote me that he had a Spinal Cord Injury (that time the doctors didn't discover the hided CCMMD of Larry) and he is using a power chair, the Lancer 2000 (which did burn in the fire on September 19th, 2003), which gives him a lot of independence, that he uses some adaptive technology and he can story to me about all the devices that he uses or used them. Larry said that he is single but he doesn't intend staying alone for all the life... and he added: '[...] if I meet the right girl, meaning one with a good heart and we fall in love with each other, I would want her with me stateside, to tell you the truth.[...] I know that there is some sort of extended visa into the united states for an US national's fiancée [...]'.

I never ignored the people who spoke to me, so I did answer to Larry telling him that I do not looking for a boyfriend or future husband, I want to only know how the people with MD from USA, UK and other developed countries improve their life. Also, that I am from Romania, I did explain him that Romania is an ex-communist country from the East of Europe, that here not many people using in wheelchair are married...

Surprise! Larry knew about Romania... not more things, but my country wasn't unknown for him... After a while I did understand why... Larry is passionate of history, art and he is interested of the events in the World...

Larry started to story me about his chair experience, his hobbies, America's history, his family's history... All the time I was thinking that I must stop this man falling in love with me. I wouldn't want to hurt him, I tried mitigating Larry, he is a nice man, a great soul and he doesn't deserve suffering... Trying to convince Larry that he can find a girl who is next to him, in USA, also they will not need a visa for her entrance in USA, I woke up needing each day Larry's company, his stories, his jokes, his laughing... God, it sounds being love!

In October 18th, 2002 we engaged... via Internet, for sure...

Soon after that I did receive by air mail a pack with a small gold ring and a card... The real engagement ring Larry himself will put it on my finger when we will meet face to face. It was bought but it didn't arrive to Larry before the fire, so God wanted it surviving as a sign that our love is from Him!

Then, Larry asked my parents for my hand by email:

"Good day MR. & MRS. Constantin,

I'm Maria's boyfriend Larry. We met on the United Kingdom disabled united web site some time ago and we are currently chatting on yahoo together. I'm a single white male and I'm also disabled with an SCI (SPINAL CORD INJURY) I'm in an electric powered wheelchair as I'm an incomplete quadriplegic myself and I'm very similar to Maria! I live in Virginia right now but I was raised in New York City and lived there till 5 years ago and I hope to return to New York City within the next two or three years. I'm college educated and my trade is being a professional Numismatist and gemologist. I believe in GOD I love GOD very much, attend church and I have faith in GOD. I believe that GOD has worked his heavenly action to bring Maria and myself together. I have fallen deeply in love with your daughter and I desire to marry Maria in time within the next 1 to 3 years because of our being in different countries I realize things will take time.

Mr & Mrs. Constantin, I'm asking the both of you for your blessings in our marriage and I'm asking you both today for Maria’s hand in marriage with me! That's pending Maria’s consent and love for me of course. Maria will move to the states in time to be with me in New York City. We will both work Maria in either computer programming or teaching and myself in numismatic. I own a handicapped van and I drive from my wheelchair using a drive master quadriplegic driving setup adoptive technology. We will find and rent an apartment in NYC that is roll in chair accessible and we will hire a personal care aide to take care of both our needs for a few hours in the mornings and at night! Maria needs an electric powered quadriplegic rehab wheelchair similar to my quad rehab power chair I can see that now. So, when she comes to the states she will have the chair that she requires for better mobility and independent. I love Maria and I will protect Maria so you need not worry about Maria being here in the states as she will be with her husband and I will always be here for Maria! I promise you both that Maria will never be abused or hurt in any way here in the states, in time she will get treatments for her LGMD here in the states also! I would very much someday like to have children with Maria if its Gods will! With the both of us working hard and with the graces of GOD we will have a good life together! MARIA is a good girl both inside and out she's caring, warm and has a good heart and I love your daughter very much so I pray and hope that you both accept me and give Maria and myself both, your blessings!

Larry Evenson

My parents told me that they never decided for me (and this is true!) and they have trust in me, in what I do. So, we have my parents blessings...

I don't hide that I was kind of scared loving Larry for first time, thinking that we will can't come together, thinking that we both will be hurt being apart... I was thinking that our relationship will not survive because of all the obstacles in our way, the main obstacles being the lack of access for the wheelchairs in Romania or the rules for obtaining the US travel visa... We are engaged for 16 months and we still didn't meet face to face. So, I can't prove to the embassy that we met for 30 days (a condition for fiancé visa...). The fire since September, 2003 made our relationship stronger despite of fact that we did realize that now we can be together only by a miracle. We both believe in God and God does miracles... God gave us this love, what we do for being together is how we thank to God for this gift... He gives us the power fighting for our love and we will not let it being spent by internet...
