A Miracle - Chapter 3

     The three left the house and headed to the park. They found a place to sit and then put down a blanket and sat down. Emily curled up next to Nikolas and Liz sat down next to them. The concert started and Liz started to feel really out of place. She knew Emily and Nikolas wanted to make out, so she felt like a third wheel.

Liz: Look guys, this was not a good idea. I am going to go home.

Emily: Liz...are you sure?

Liz: Yeah.

Nikolas: Ok then, we'll all go.

Liz: No...you two stay, enjoy the concert.

Emily: You sure?

Liz: Yeah...see you later.

Nikolas: Bye.

     Liz walked off with tears in her eyes. She continued to walk through the park, and before she knew it she was standing in front of the boxcar. Liz just stared at it for a minute and then took a deep breath and stepped inside. As soon as she got in she felt so close to Luky. This was the first time she had been there since his death. Liz sat down on the ground and looked around. All of the furniture she painted was still on the walls. Liz broke down and started to remember Lucky and the times they shared in the boxcar. She remembered first going there, their paint fight, staying there all night in Lucky's arms, and their first kiss.

It's easy to define these
Kind of feelings
Much harder to be brave
And let them come true
So many tender words
But yet unspoken
And all of my great dreams
I see them in you

You light up the candle
In my heart
But then I am stranded
When we part

When I'm falling

This candle dies

     Liz then starts to think about her life with Lucky as it could have been. Their senior prom, graduating from high school, moving to New York, getting married, making love for the first time, having their first baby, their first Christmas, their first wedding anniversary.

I never thought that sleep
Could be so restless
Or longing for two arms
Could be all that strong
But time not spent with you
Just makes me helpless
I need to have you near
To live...to carry on

You light up the candle
In my heart
But then I am stranded
When we part
How can I reach you
When I'm falling
And you say goodbye
This candles dies
Candle dies.

     Liz stays in the boxcar for a little while and then leaves to go home. When she gets home, she is so exhausted. She goes to bed and falls right to sleep.
