Memories Revisited - Chapter 16

It has been just about nine months since Liz's ordeal with Daniel. Since then, Daniel has been sentenced to 5 to 10 years for five accounts of rape and domestic violence. Liz slowly but surely has become stronger with the help of her children, her friends, and most of Lucky.

Liz and Lucky have been living separately, but see each other all the time. They have not become intimate again because Lucky wanted to give Liz as much space as she needed. He did not want to rush her so the subject was never brought up. Lucky has become very close to Dylan and Gabrielle who he calls Gabby which is his special name for her. She wont let anyone else call her that but Lucky. Liz has also formed a bond with Lauren and is able to have civil conversations with Pam. Things were finally looking up for her after so many years of hardship.

Liz was asleep in her bed when she heard her bedroom door open. She then woke up by the feeling of three little people jumping all over her.

"Wake up mommy." Said Dylan.

Liz opened her eyes and saw Dylan, Gabrielle, and Lauren sitting all around her. Gabrielle hugged her mother and Liz opened her eyes. "Happy Birthday Mamma."

Lauren handed Liz a carnation. "Happy birthday Lizzie."

"Thank you so much." Liz hugged the little girl, she was speechless, she had forgotten that it was her birthday. All of the children gave her flowers and cards and then left the room. Liz sunk back in her bed and thought about how lucky she was. Just then the door opened again and this time Lucky came in holding a brownie with one single candle in it. "Happy birthday Elizabeth."

Liz just smiled completely at a loss for words, After all these years he remembered. "Oh Lucky."

Lucky walked over to the bed and sat down. "Make a wish."

"Give me your hand."

Lucky gave Liz his hand and she blew out the candle. "That's it, you aced it, one wish coming true."

"Feels like it already has."

Liz smiled and took the brownie and broke it in two giving the other half to Lucky. They finished their brownie and lucky climbed into bed next to Liz. He spooned her from behind and held her. "Care to know about the day I have planned for you?"

"Lucky what did you do?"

"Well the children are going to spend the whole day and night over my parents, so we have the whole day and night to ourselves."

"You're too good to me."

Liz turned around to face Lucky. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him down to her. Their mouths met for a gentle kiss, but then it quickly changed to a more passionate kiss. This was the first time they had kissed like this in a long time. Liz opened her mouth to lucky allowing his tongue to enter. As their tongues played, Lucky's hand traveled up Liz's T-shirt. Once he realized where his hand had gone he pulled it out and broke the kiss. "I'm sorry."

"Lucky for what?"

"I just don't to rush you."

"You weren't rushing me." Liz looked deeply into his eyes. "I guess I should get dressed so we can take the kids to your parents house."

"Yeah….ok…..right."

Liz gave him a quick kiss and disappeared into the bathroom for a shower. Lucky kicked himself for doing what he did, the last thing he wanted to do was scare Liz. He felt like they were teenagers again, but they were adults with children of their own and he was so afraid to touch her again, just like he was all those years ago. Even though all he wanted to do was touch her and make love to her he was not going to rush her. When and if it happened was Liz's call.

Liz came out of the bathroom fully dressed and Lucky was waiting for her. They both went down stairs and loaded the kids in the car to go to the Spencer home. Once there, Liz and Lucky spent some time with his parents and then left to celebrate Liz's birthday.

Liz and Lucky shared a nice picnic in the park where they ate ribs and cheese fries and then they went to the carnival on the fairgrounds. They felt like kids again with no worries or troubles. After the carnival they decided to go back to Lucky's apartment.

Liz sat down on the couch and Lucky went over to his desk and pulled out a small box. He went to sit on the couch next to Liz. "I almost forgot to give you your present."

"Lucky being with you is more than enough."

"Just open it."

Liz took the box and slowly opened it. "Oh Lucky it's beautiful."

In the box was a gold heart on a chain. On the front of the heart was an angel. The rim of the heart was all in diamonds. Liz turned it over to read the inscription. "To my Angel, I love you today forever, Love Lucky."

"Do you like it?"

"I love it, help me pout it on."

Lucky took the necklace and placed it around Liz's neck. "Now you'll always have your guardian angel with you."

"I thought that was you."

"Well when I'm not with you, you're covered."

"Thank you. I love you so much Lucky."

"I love you to Elizabeth."

Liz and Lucky continued to sit on the couch and Lucky had his arm around Liz and she rested her head on his chest.

"Thank you for a wonderful birthday."

"You're welcome."

Liz looked up at him and kissed him passionately, sort of like the way they kissed earlier. After a few seconds, Liz broke the kiss. "Lucky would you do me a favor?"

"You know I will. What can I do?"

"I need you to love me Lucky, I need you to make love to me."
