Memories Revisited - Chapter 7

by: Amber

Later that night, Liz called her children and hearing their little voices was good medicine to her. She missed them terribly and all she wanted was to hold them. As she hung up the phone, Daniel came into the room. "Good news darling, I go an offer on this dump and I excepted it. Pack your bags, we're going home…tomorrow!"

Daniel left the room and once again tears filled Liz's eyes. Now what was she going to do? Later that night Liz went up to her room and locked the door. She did the same thing lucky had done with the chair and then she went over to the window. Using all of her strength, Liz got herself out of the window and down to the ground. She needed to be in a place where no one would find her, but she also knew she could not be out for long.

Liz got to the woods and sighed when the boxcar came into view. She could hardly believe it was still standing after all these years. She climbed in and she could still see just the outlines of her paintings, all of the color hand faded.

Liz sat down on one of the milk crates and began to cry. "What am I going to do? I need you so much. I need you to hold me and tell me everything is going to be okay like you did all those years ago. But I know you can't, this is my own mess and no one can help me, not even you. I love you so much and your love is all I need to get threw this. Good bye my forever love."

Liz dried her eyes and stepped out of the boxcar. She made it home and climbed in her window. Once inside she got changed into her nightgown and then went over to the closet. She searched until she found what she was looking for. She pulled out the small shoebox and went over to sit on the bed. Liz opened the box and dumped out its contents. There was a charm bracelet, a ring with a small diamond and two pearls on the side. There pictures from a photo booth and then finally there was a cassette tape. Liz went over to the desk drawer and pulled out the walk man she had left behind. It was obvious Audrey never redid the room, it was left just like Liz left it. Liz took the walk man back to the bed and played the tape. As his voice came on, Liz lay down on the bed and listened as he sang to her.

As you knell beside your bed tonight
Keep a little prayer for me insight
Know that I will be there when you call
Know that I will catch you if you might fall
Elizabeth go to sleep
I wanna watch you breath
I wanna feel god's peace
All I want is this
Elizabeth.

Elizabeth you need to get some rest
So lay your head down upon my chest
Release all your fears and regrets
It's not your fault life's a see through dress
Elizabeth

The night is gone
The sun had come
It's all been done
And all I want is this
Elizabeth.

As you kneel beside your bed tonight
Keep a little prayer for me insight
Elizabeth.

Once the song had ended Liz stopped her walk man and took out the tape. She pit it along with everything else in the shoebox and then placed it back in the closet. As tears feel from her eyes Liz went over to her desk. She sat down and pulled out a piece of paper and began writing a letter.

Dear Lucky,

I am not sure exactly what to say to you, except thank you. Thank you for taking care of me the other night and I am so sorry I had to push you away, but I did not have a choice. I never have forgotten out time together and I never will. You have a special place in my heart that no one can touch. I need you to do me a favor, in the left hand corner of the closet is a shoebox, please take it for me. Daniel has sold the house and we are going back to LA. The box's contents are very special to me. Please take it with you, I treasure those items very dearly. Hang on to them for me and know how much I love you. You've got my heart that's a permanent lock. Everything I am is in love with you, my soul, my mind, my body, my spirit, and that will never change. I pledge myself to you Lucky today forever.

Love,
Elizabeth.

A couple tears feel from Liz's face and landed on the piece of paper. She folded up the paper and placed in on the envelope. On the outside of the envelope she wrote, "Please give to Lucky Spencer." Liz placed the letter on top of the desk and hoped the letter would get to him before the new owners cleaned out the house. Liz unlocked the door and climbed into bed. She pulled the covers up to her chin and feel asleep.
