Misery Made Beautiful - Chapter 17

Liz found Jason on the docks. He was looking at the water as he stood on the edge of the docks. Before Liz went down the steps she thought about what Lucky had just said to her.

**Flashback**
Lucky: Two people who love each other making love
**Back to Liz**

Liz quickly pushed that thought out of her mind as she went down the steps.

Liz: Jason.

Jason turned around and as soon as Liz was faced with him she looked away, unable to look him in the eye.

Liz: Jason I am so sorry

Jason took a few steps towards her. Once he was in front of her Liz looked up at him with tears in her eyes.

Jason: Don't be, I knew it was only a matter of time.

Liz: What?

Jason: Liz, I could barely compete with Lucky's memory, I cant even begin to think about competing with the real thing.

Liz: That's not true, don't say that. You never had to compete with Lucky or his memory.

Jason: Let's be honest here Liz. Things between us in the beginning were great, but you never let go of Lucky and now that he is back how can I expect you to walk away.

Liz: But I love you.

Jason: I love you too Liz and I believe you love me, but you're not in love with me. You're still in love with Lucky, you always have been, and you forever will be. That's why you had sex with him last night and why we never did. You would never make to someone you don't love. Liz just admit it to yourself. You are still in love with Lucky.

Liz: All right fine! I'm still in love with him, I never stopped.

Liz went over to the bench, sat down, and put her face in her hands as he sobbed. Jason went over to the bench and sat next to her.

Liz: I'm so sorry Jason, I never meant to hurt you.

Jason: (takes Liz's hand) Hey, it's okay. All I ever wanted was for you to be happy Liz. I remember how happy you were all those years ago with Lucky. I know how happy he made you. It's not everyday you get a second chance to be with the love of your life after you've lost them once. Don't let go this time.

Liz: Thank you, but I think I just blew that second chance.

Jason: Why?

Liz: because I told Lucky that last night was a mistake, but in my heart I know that it wasn't. Jason I don't know how to thank you for everything you have done for me in the last five years. I don't know what I would have done without you. I guess I should give this back to you.

Liz looked down at her hand and removed the engagement ring that Jason had given her. She held the ring up to her lips and kissed it before she placed it in Jason's hand.

Liz: I'll never forget all that you have given me and all that you have done for me. I never would have gotten through the last five years without you.

Jason smiled and took Liz in his arms and they shared one last kiss.

Lucky had gotten himself together and decided he was going to go after Liz. He left Kelly's and went down to the docks. Lucky stopped dead in his tracks as soon as he saw Liz and Jason kissing.

Liz and Jason pulled apart and Liz hugged Jason. As soon as she looked up she saw Lucky as a single tear fell down his face. Lucky looked at her and then walked away.

Liz: Lucky don't go.

Liz pulled away from Jason as Lucky walked away.

Liz: Great now what have I done?
