Lucky was once again lying on his Steele bed fighting back tears of loss and frustration. It had been months since he'd been taken away from his life. Months since he’d held his soulmate, his Elizabeth. At least he thought it had been months, marking time was a difficult task. All he was sure of was that over time he'd gone through "the cycle" several times. He knew the phases well. At first, he would be determined to find a way back to Elizabeth; next he was frustrated and finally defeated and heartbroken as he was now. Suddenly he heard the familiar sound of the remote controlled door opening and silently moaned at the thought of another round of Faison's favorite game, mental and emotional pain. Then he looked up at the door and instead of the Devil he saw His Angel, Elizabeth standing in the doorway her eyes shinning with tears. "Not again"; he thought, "I can't handle another dream, it hurts too much to wake up and find her gone".
Elizabeth was frozen. She wanted to run to Lucky hold him in her arms and never let go. She couldn't though; she was frozen. Her body was consumed with the task of simply taking in his presence, the reality of him, alive. She'd told him she could stare at him for months, she now knew it was really true, just watching him was a pleasure. Those eyes, his angelic sapphire blue eyes that saw her soul and let her in to his hadn't changed. They were still amazingly expressive only now they expressed pain, the pain of being taken away from her and their life together. She saw the tears forming and her heart broke for his pain. She could tell he doubted she was really there. So for him and herself, she slowly made herself move.
Lucky watched as Elizabeth walked toward him, slowly at first then faster and suddenly somehow she was in his arms. In his dreams he rarely allowed himself to remember how perfect she felt in his arms because that made waking up to his Steele reality even more painful. So he was surprised that this dream felt so real. His tears felt real so did hers on his shirt and neck. Finally, she said his name,
"Lucky, Thank God! I thought we'd never find you. I love you".
"I love you too. Elizabeth, how……?"
How did your dad and I find you? I'll tell you later now I want to get you home.
I am home, if you're real.
Lucky, I'm real but we have to meet your dad outside and get away from here. You and I are going to your dad's cabin for a few days.
Why? Is there a problem?
No, but I made your dad promise that after he and your mom and sister saw you that you and I could have some time before everyone pounced on you wanting answers and throwing parties.
We really get to have time alone, no interruptions? WOW.
It is going to be wonderful, I know. We deserve it and I want to have you close to me 24/7, at least until I convince myself you're finally back with me.
She takes his hand and starts to walk towards the door. Lucky stops.
Wait, I have to tell you something before I leave this Steele trap. I have to tell you that every night I thought about you. And when I was exhausted enough to sleep and dream, this is what I dreamed, being back in your arms seeing you smile. In fact when I saw you I thought I was dreaming again.
Elizabeth smiled and pulled him closer, if possible. "Lucky for weeks after the fire I couldn't grieve, I couldn't feel what I should feel if you were gone. I was able to laugh and smile at Nikolas' stupid jokes and his lame attempts to take care of me and make me smile. I could even paint and go to work but it was simply lonely like when you went to Canada. I didn't let myself examine my reaction at first but when I did I realized that I could do those things because you were out there somewhere alive, I could still feel you.
Lucky pulled back and whispered, "I felt you too, you gave me the strength to keep fighting. I fought for us. I fought to find a way out that would keep you safe so we could have our life together.
Elizabeth replied, "Today, Forever"
Lucky continues, "Forever and the day after if possible". They smile as they remember the night they vowed to be together forever. Lucky slowly lowers his lips to hers and they wrap their arms around each other and share a kiss that expresses all the love they share and the joy of being back were they belong, in each others arms.
