Reclaiming Forever - Chapter 2

After the kiss ends, they gather Lucky’s clothes and leave the Steele prison forever, hand-in-hand. They are smiling and they never look back. Outside Lucky is joyfully and tearfully reunited with Luke. Once Luke is convinced Lucky is truly alive and unharmed, he quickly explains that after Faison was neutralized (killed) and it was safe he promised Elizabeth she could go find Lucky, and she did. Laura and Lesley Lu are nearby waiting for them in a safe place. Soon Lucky is holding his crying mother and joyful little sister in his arms. Eventually, Luke pulls Laura into his arms and tells everyone they should get going if they want to get to the cabin before dark. They continue talking and celebrating during the trip to the cabin. No one wants to discuss the specifics or the pain they’ve gone through the past months or the year before. They just want to enjoy being together again and closer than they had been the past 18 months. They are simply thankful for this second chance to be a family. In a way, the Spencers were a family again, because of a young couple’s journey to love and faith and an older couple’s ability to learn from that journey. Both couples had found a way out of the pain back to the love that was somehow always there. Even in the car, Lesley Lu will not let go of Lucky’s hand and neither will Elizabeth. Lucky is in the middle when LuLu eventually falls asleep. Lucky’s smiles, he’s trapped happily; LuLu’s head is on his lap and Elizabeth’s is on his shoulder. Lucky cannot believe he has his life back, and its even better because everyone he loves has found peace. He doesn’t ask questions though, he can read his parents, he knows they’ve healed somehow, he doesn’t need to know how or why.

After a few hours LuLu awakens as they see the final path to the cabin. When they arrive, Lucky notices Nik's Jag but before he can ask why or even think, Nikolas and Emily run out and hug him. Em cries while Nikolas fights back tears. Nikolas tells Lucky that he missed him, no longer willing to hold back the love he now has for his brother, Lucky feels the same way. They’ll always tease and even fight but now there’s respect and love as well. Nikolas then looks at Elizabeth and tells her that everything is ready and he left his cell phone in case of emergencies. Then, after a few pointed looks from Elizabeth, everyone prepares to leave. Elizabeth promises that they’ll call once a day and they’ll have a party at Luke’s when they get back. After final hugs, Nikolas tosses Lucky the keys to the Jag as he gets in with the Spencers and Emily. Elizabeth then leads Lucky in to the cabin. Once inside, Lucky begins to worry about safety and sleeping arrangements, because after the emotional day they are both already tired.

{Note: In my story Luke owns the cabin he took Lucky to last December and it's bigger than on the show. It has a nice bathroom and room for a double bed, as well as the fully stocked pantry Lucky locked Luke in. Ok, back to Lucky and Elizabeth…}

Lucky, I requested the double bed because I want to sleep next to you.

Elizabeth, I want that too but are you sure? Sleeping together in the boxcar and on the floor is different than sharing a bed.

Lucky, I’m sure, besides where else would you sleep? I made sure Nikolas removed the sleeping bags so you can’t sleep on the floor.

Have I mentioned that I love you? You’re so "sensible".

Well, I learned from the master.

They laugh as their lips find their way to each other. After a while they slowly pull apart and Elizabeth showers and changes into a T-shirt of Lucky's and boxers. Lucky does the same. After his shower he finds Elizabeth in bed waiting for him to join her. He hesitates waiting for reassurance that she is really ok with this. She stretches her hand out and he takes it and crawls in next to her. She snuggles against his chest and makes a request.

"Lucky, could you sing to me?"

Dreams of Gold.

She whispers in return, "How can I miss" and they drift off to sleep knowing this will be the first peaceful sleep either of them has had since that horrible night when he was taken from her.
