During the week they have also become closer physically. They are exploring each other and learning to trust each other and themselves. Lucky is beginning to trust himself to follow Elizabeth’s lead and she is learning to trust her reaction to Lucky’s touch, all she feels when he touches her is love and desire. Lucky no longer wears a T-shirt to bed; Elizabeth has become accustomed to his bare chest. She convinced Lucky he should save her the trouble of taking it off. Lucky is still taking his exploration of Elizabeth slowly, cherishing it. His hands have moved under her shirt only once, it left them both wanting more. Sometimes they simply hold each other letting the closeness erase the pain they've been through. They fall asleep in each other's arms every night.
At the end of week, Lucky seems nervous. At first Elizabeth believes it's because they have to return to Port Charles soon and he's nervous about the reactions when people see him alive. Then, on their last night at the cabin, Elizabeth innocently starts one of the most important conversations of her life. They are in bed; Elizabeth is resting her head on his bare chest…
Lucky, I love falling asleep like this. I'm going to miss that once we're back home. When we move to New York I’ll finally sleep soundly every night because I'll be in your arms.
Me too. Elizabeth do you remember when we first talked about moving to New York? I mentioned getting a place.
Yeah you said it didn't have to be a dream and then when were there we even picked out the perfect place.
Well that first night, there was part of my dream I wasn't sure I should tell you. In fact I almost did but I was too subtle. I knew we weren't ready. I'm still not sure but after this past wonderful week of being with you 24/7……
Lucky, whatever it is tell me. We can deal with it. What is the other part of your dream?
Lucky shifts and Elizabeth slowly sits up and he does too. He's nervous but he has to ask, now, he needs to know. He then reaches for Elizabeth's hands. He brings the ring to his lips and kisses it.
Ok, whenever I thought about us living together in New York I always saw a ring on my finger and a different one on yours. Elizabeth, you were my wife. In a way since Valentines Day you have been but in my dream it was official. I'm doing this all wrong……
Lucky nervously runs his fingers through his hair then slips off the bed and kneels in front of Elizabeth. She doesn't know what to say so she remains silent, smiling at him. Tears are forming in their eyes. Lucky's have started falling down his cheeks.
Elizabeth, I've told you that there will never be another girl for me and we've pledged ourselves to each other before God. Our separation reaffirmed those vows by showing us how fragile and strong what we have can be. I love you; you have all of me. Now, I'd be honored if you'd also take my name. Elizabeth, will you marry me?
Elizabeth slowly stands up, pulling Lucky with her. She looks into those eyes that see her soul and she sees her answer there, her future.
In my heart I already did. And before you ask that is a yes.
She then kisses her fiancée telling him without words how happy she is. Lucky cannot believe his dream is coming true, he slowly pulls away. He looks into her eyes and sees his own happiness there.
