Lucky and Elizabeth spend the next week talking and healing the pain of their forced separation. They talk on their walks and as they eat, and as they lay in bed. She tells him how lives (especially her life) in Port Charles have changed in the months he was gone. She explains that Luke and Laura found their way back to each other because his "death" put their choices (especially Laura's) into perspective. He laughs as she tells him about Felicia and Luke’s friendship, which got Luke through the painful weeks after his "death". She also explains how his family supported her and how being near them, especially LuLu, helped her. She even tells him how Nik tried unsuccessfully to do what Lucky would do for her. Lucky tells her about his time in the Steele trap. He tells her about seeing her at Mt. Hebron mourning him and the day outside Kelly's where Faison proved she was in immediate danger. They cry together when he tells her about his attempt to call her, and the pain he felt at hearing her voice, fearing it was for the last time and her not knowing he was on the line…
It was the one time I almost broke down in front of him Elizabeth. Hearing your voice was wonderful but then I realized you couldn't hear me and then you were gone. It was like loosing you and never wanted to know what that felt like, and I never want to feel it again. I need you.
And I need you. I never want to loose you again either. I remember that day, after that call I felt like you were with me, I needed you with me. I wanted to run into your arms so badly and share everything with you.
What happened that day that you wanted to tell me?
That was the day I got my acceptance letter from the art school.
Lucky pulls her into his arms and hugs her before he kisses her. As he pulls away he says…
I am so proud of you. I told you they'd have to be crazy not to want you.
I know, you've always believed in me. That's why I wanted to tell *you*. I didn't want Nikolas to be there, I needed to be in your arms.
Nikolas was there?
Yeah, he stopped by and then the messenger came and I was glad I wasn't alone to open it, especially since your portrait was in there.
I'm so sorry, I know that was hard Faison showed me a picture of you once and I wanted so bad to reach out to you. I know it was harder on you thinking I was gone forever. I'm glad Nikolas was there.
I was too at first then he started trying to convince me to go.
Elizabeth,
Lucky I couldn't, not when all I could think about was what should have been. New York was OUR dream, I wasn't ready to do it on my own. I needed time but Nikolas wouldn't get that. He was trying to be like you, encouraging me but instead he was pushing me. You never push you always trust me to stand on my own, even when you know you'll have to catch me.
I know better than to argue with you, you're as stubborn as a Spencer remember? What did the art school say when you told them you weren't coming?
They said they'd hold the scholarship for a year. Lucky, I still want to wait a year.
Why?
I want you to have time with your family and I want time with you here before we go to New York.
Elizabeth, we don't have to…
Lucky, I want to do this, for both of us.
Ok, if you're sure.
I am.
They continue to talk about the past and the future. However, they don't talk much about Apt A and what they lost when it burned, it only hurts them both. They do talk about where Lucky will live though. Lucky wants a place that they both feel comfortable in, and can be alone in. They decide he should rent a room above Kelly's for now. (No Hannah, no Juan) Lucky feels ok with this because he can be close to her when she's working and he's no longer haunted by his family’s painful past. He has found peace with his father. Elizabeth promises to hang her painting of his guitar in his new room, so they'll have a piece of the past in the new place.
