The Heart Remembers - Part 7

Webber Residence:

Elizabeth stretched dreamily coming slowly awake to find herself lying completely on top of Lucky her face snuggled within the curve of his neck, one open palm against his sleek cheek. She smiled when she felt his arms tightened around her waist signaling that he too was awake.

''Good morning sweetheart,'' whispered Lucky turning his head slightly to place a gentle lingering kiss on Elizabeth's forehead. ''Good morning,'' answered Elizabeth tilting her head slightly back to offer her lips for a tender kiss.

Elizabeth stretched again this time deliberately provocative smiling when she received the desired answer. Lucky groaned when felt the blood rush to his loins and deepen their kiss. ''That was deliberate,'' said Lucky turning and pinning Elizabeth beneath him.

Elizabeth laughed and captured his mouth again, wrapping her arms securely around him and darting her hot tongue in his mouth seeking and possessing his her legs already parting to welcome him.

Later after making love again in the shower Elizabeth reluctantly disentangled herself from Lucky to go downstairs and fix them breakfast. Lucky remained behind to place a call to his parents at the hotel letting them know that he was with Elizabeth and would be spending the day with her.

Not wanting to get into a discussion on the phone he choose to forego telling them that his memory had returned. ''I am sorry I didn't call you last night mom I sort of got distracted,'' said Lucky a secret smile playing on his face.

''Yes I will see you today I promise, I love you too and tell the others that I will talk to them later. Yes everything is fine, she's fine too, mom, mom I have to go, I will talk to you later, I love you,'' said Lucky hanging up before his mother could detain him any longer.

Elizabeth hummed happily in the kitchen finishing up the eggs and toast and placing them on the kitchen table as Lucky walked in a towel draped casually around his waist. The sight of him framing the door set Elizabeth's heart racing, her lips slightly parted she could only stare at him in awe.

''I made eggs,'' said Elizabeth eyes shinning, unable to tear her eyes away from Lucky's magnificent form. ''I made them the way you like, over easy with toast extra crispy, I also have juice if you like, orange, apple, cranberry, fruit, milk, I have milk, mango with kiwi that's nice or we could just go out,'' rambled Elizabeth suddenly nervous.

Lucky was doubled over laughing by the time Elizabeth was through listing all the different juice ideas for Lucky to select. ''Don't laugh at me,'' reprimanded Elizabeth going to stand over Lucky who now had tears in his eyes from laughing.

''I am sorry Elizabeth, but you were just so funny just then, I have never in my life been offered that many juices.'' Elizabeth gave Lucky a playful punch and returned to her task of setting the table, ''so did any of my offer interest you,'' asked Elizabeth hands on her hips.

Lucky walked over and glanced quickly around the table, before announcing that he would love some eggs, toast and orange juice. Elizabeth smiled and poured him the juice before sitting down with him for breakfast.

''Aren't you going to eat,'' asked Elizabeth looking up and finding Lucky regarding her intently. ''I can't take my eyes off you, you are so beautiful, more beautiful than I remembered, how did that happen,'' asked Lucky earnestly.

Elizabeth smiled shyly joy flooding her body at Lucky's words, ''I've missed you so much Lucky, in the beginning I thought I would die of missing you.''

''I've missed you too, when I was first captured Faisan would show me videos of you. At kelly's, on the docks, going to and from the hospital, they were like life to me and as much as I hated him, I look forward to those videos of you seeing you healthy and beautiful and alive was the most important thing in the world to me.''

Tears sprang to Elizabeth's eyes at the thought of Lucky being held captive. ''I am so sorry Lucky, I am so sorry I didn't know, I should have known, but I didn't.'' Lucky got up and reached for Elizabeth pulling her into his lap and holding her lovingly to him.

''You couldn't have known Elizabeth, Faisan and Helena covered their tracks very well, not even the cops could figure it out, not even my parents and they have a instinct for these things.''

Elizabeth protested straightening from Lucky's hold. ''Lucky that night, I woke up and I knew something was wrong, I knew something terrible had happened, but I didn't feel that you were hurt. Later at the fire I didn't feel that you were dead, not even after they brought the body out. I kept telling Taggart that it wasn't you and again Bobby, but they both thought I was in denial.

Then Taggart brought me the subway token and I knew that you wouldn't have taken it off. When he told me that it was found on the body I had nothing else to cling to. I finally had to accept that it was you nothing else made any sense, but even then I felt our connection as strong as before and I could never understand it.

I kept waiting year after year to feel that you were dead, but nothing Lucky nothing, and then there you were. I looked up and there you were standing there 10 years later, alive and healthy and more beautiful than ever before,'' finished Elizabeth a beautiful smile on her face.

Lucky brought his lips down to meet hers for a gentle kiss before regarding her tenderly. ''Elizabeth, before you thanked me for loving you, but I am the one who should thank you. Loving me for all these years, I am so lucky and I will never take that for granted.

I now know that forever is not something anyone can promise with any certainty, because it's out of our hands I didn't know that then. I can promise you however that I will always love you and cherish you as long as I am alive. I will be with you Elizabeth for the rest of my life if you will have me.''

Elizabeth and Lucky held each other tears streaming down their cheeks, silently praying that they would have a long beautiful life together, hoping that faith will be good to them and their future.

Penthouse Port Charles Hotel:

''Ok that's enough please will everyone quit smiling at me like that. Mom you are looking at me with the sappiest grin on your face,'' exclaimed Danielle becoming annoyed at her family.

All throughout breakfast everyone have been focusing their attention on her, winking and mumbling little tidbits to each other in an attempt to drive her crazy.

Danielle knew that this was all happening as a result of her evening with Sly. Ever since she agreed to him returning her to the hotel the day before her family have had their nose in the air trying to sniff out what was going on.

She was determined however not give an inch to their speculation even though she was dying to tell someone about her evening.

''Sly seems nice,'' said Patricia finally, ''he is,'' replied Danielle not meeting Patricia's curious gaze. ''Darling come on don't be like that just tell us what happened already you know we won't quit pestering you until you do,'' said Theresa. ''Mother there really isn't anything to tell,'' denied Danielle.

''Aahh, you are no fun, I just hope Malcolm is not as evasive about his evening with Elizabeth,'' chuckled Theresa ignoring a warning glance from Michael telling her that they would not give Malcolm the third degree.

''I was actually thinking about that,'' said Danielle taking a sip of grapefruit juice. ''Oh?'' Inquired Michael, ''and just what were you thinking?'' ''Well I was thinking that Malcolm might need to remain in Port Charles for awhile, one to get to know is family here and two to be with Elizabeth, although I am guessing not in that order.''

''Funny you mentioned that dear, because I too have thought that same thing, so last night I went on the internet and pulled up the General Hospital job notices and it just so happens that there are positions available in all our fields,'' said Theresa tentatively.

''Care to expand on that darling,'' asked Michael watching his wife suspiciously. ''Well you've always wanted to make the leap to Research medicine and General Hospital just so happens to be a leader in that field.'' ''What exactly are you suggesting Theresa,'' asked Michael knowing Theresa already had a plan cooked up.

''Michael all I am saying is that General Hospital is one of the finest hospitals in the world and they just happened to have positions available to meet all our needs that's all dear,'' said Theresa sweetly.

''You know I can pen a story anywhere, so if you guys should happen to be interested in say relocation that wouldn't affect my job in the least,'' said Danielle smiling at her mother who was trying to hide a secret smile of her own.

''Well Dad General Hospital is really one of the finest Medical Institution in the world and you have been making noises for the last couple of years about wanting fewer administrative duties,'' said Jonathan, totally in sink with his mother and sister.

Michael Steele eyed his family suspiciously, ''ok what are you all going on about, now and don't say it's nothing, because I am beginning to get the feeling like I am being ganged up on.''

Theresa Steele sighed and finally broke down turning to her husband in distress. ''Darling we have to move to Port Charles,'' ''why?'' Asked Michael puzzled, still not catching on.

''Malcolm dear, Malcolm. The Spencers are his family too whether he remembers them or not. He's going to want to get to know them and that's understandable, not to mention Elizabeth.

Listen Michael,'' Theresa went one determined to convince Michael. ''I see Malcolm finding himself in a position very soon wherein he's going to feel torn between his two families and I don't want that. I don't want our child torn in two, feeling that he has to please both families.''

''I never thought of it that way,'' said Michael becoming concerned, ''but you are right it would be just like Malcolm to feel that way. He has a right to get to know the Spencer's, but at the same time I couldn't bear to lose my son. I hadn't thought of any of this, I had just assumed that Malcolm would return with us to LA, but no, you are right it won't be that simple.

Michael had gotten up while he was speaking and was now pacing the floor, completely distressed at the thought of not having Malcolm close by.

''Well we always talked about one day living in a small town,'' said Michael finally getting on the same wave-length as Theresa, Jonathan and Danielle. ''That time we stayed in Vermont you loved,'' said Michael. ''I never had a better time, I found it peaceful and charming, I think Port Charles might be similar,'' answered Theresa smiling brightly.

''I could use the break from being chief of Staff and you are correct General Hospital is one of the best Medical Institutions in the world. Patricia I have heard from Danielle and Jonathan, but not you, what say you dear?''

''I am ready for the move, besides who wouldn't want to escape the 401 at rush hour,'' said Patricia smiling. Everyone snickered agreeing with Patricia on the craziness of traffic in LA.

''Then it's settled we should start making plans to make Port Charles our new home,'' announced Theresa completely pleased with the turn of events.

Theresa had spent a restless night worrying about Malcolm, as much as she resented Laura Spencer she had to respect that the woman had a place in Malcolm's life and he had a right to get to know her. Theresa, while forced to share her son was not willing to become an outside observer in his life.

It was then that the idea of relocation had come to her, such a move would allow Malcolm to have both his families in the same place with minimum inconvenience since Steele Enterprises could be run from any location.

Danielle stood gazing out the Penthouse window a small smile playing on her face as thoughts of Sly entered her head. The idea of moving to Port Charles and getting to know Sly left her breathless with anticipation, suddenly the day seemed brighter and the future rosier.

Webber Residence:

Elizabeth turned to watch Lucky descend the stairs dressed in the clothes Theresa had sent over from the Penthouse earlier. ''You look great,'' said Elizabeth her eyes alight at the sight of Lucky dressed casually in Khaki slacks and a blue polo short sleeved shirt that brought out the color of his penetrating blue eyes.

''Thank you, so do you,'' said Lucky giving Elizabeth an appreciative look taking in her short summer dress that showed off her beautiful legs. ''I am sorry about the phone call, my grandfather needed some questions answered immediately,'' said Lucky referring to the phone call that halted his progress earlier.

Gathering Elizabeth in his arms Lucky pressed his lips firmly to hers parting his lips to welcome her seeking tongue his own tongue exploring the recesses of her sweet mouth. After a few minutes Elizabeth pulled away slightly to gaze up at Lucky.

''I thought we were going over to your parents house so we could tell them the good news,'' asked Elizabeth lost in the passion she saw in Lucky's eyes. ''What's a few more hours,'' asked Lucky picking Elizabeth up and striding towards the stairs destination in mind.

Clothes scattered about Lucky and Elizabeth was locked in a passionate embraced, arms and legs entangled. They were both so lost in their desire for each other that neither heard the peeling of the phone until the third ring. ''Ignore it,'' breathed Lucky in a husky voice kissing Elizabeth softly on the lips his tongue darting out to caress hers.

''It could be important Lucky, but if it's not I promise to get rid of them,'' whispered Elizabeth irritated at whoever it was.

A few minutes later Elizabeth concluded her conversation with Laura and reported the details to Lucky. ''It seems Edward Quartermaine is throwing a welcome home party for you at the mansion tonight,'' reported Elizabeth expecting Lucky to object.

''That's nice it will be great to see everyone, but we definitely need to see my Spencer mom and dad and let them know about my returned memory. I need to tell my other family too, I don't want them finding out from anyone else, especially my mom she'll probably feel threatened.''

Elizabeth was looking at Lucky with a small smile on her face, ''what? You are looking at me strangely Elizabeth what are you thinking.''

''I am just shocked that I mentioned a party where you will be the focus and you didn't even blink, that's new.'' ''Oh that, I am used to it now, cocktail parties, charity gala, you name it,'' said Lucky nonchalantly, already reaching out to pull Elizabeth back into his arms.

''How do you feel now?'' Elizabeth asked breathlessly unsuccessfully trying to pull away from Lucky's embrace. ''What do you mean how do I feel,'' asked Lucky nibbling on Elizabeth's ear causing her to mourn softly.

''I mean you have your memory of Lucky back, memories you haven't had for nearly ten years, so how does it feel to suddenly have it all back in addition to the memories of living the last ten years.''

''Hmm, I am not exactly sure I have to think about it for awhile, it's definitely different, I am Lucky, but I am Malcolm too. Is it ok if I get back to you on that question, I think we were in the middle of something.'' Elizabeth giggled submitting to Lucky's devouring mouth crashing down on hers.

Spencer's Residence:

''I can't wait to see him again mom, did you see he smiled at me, I think he likes me, what do you think?'' Lulu asked excitedly.

''I think he really liked you Lulu and why wouldn't he you are his baby sister and I am sure he feels connected to you still.''

''He probably doesn't feel as connected to me as he does to Danielle though right mom?'' ''Now Lulu I don't think there is any reason for you to feel threatened, he just doesn't remember us yet that's all. Once he gets to know you he will love you just as much as he loves Danielle, really dear there is no competition,'' said Laura thinking of Theresa and her connection to Malcolm.

Lulu reached over and gave Laura a hug before going into the kitchen to fix herself something to eat. ''Hey darling,'' said Luke coming in the back through the kitchen and reaching out to give Lulu a quick hug before going into the living room to join Laura.

''Lulu looked pensive, is she ok?'' Luke inquired softly taking Laura's hand in his. ''She's fine, just feeling a little bit intimidated by Danielle, much like the way I feel about Theresa,'' smiled Laura reaching over and placing a soft kiss on Luke's lips.

''Neither of you have anything to feel threatened about, you are still Lucky's mother and Lulu is still his sister trust me the cowboy won't walk away from that, you can tell that family still means everything to him.''

''Oh, this coming from the man who complained all night in his sleep about Michael keeping his grubby little paws off your son,'' said Laura giving Luke a challenging look.

''You are making that up, I don't talk in my sleep and I sure don't spend my time worrying about Michael Steele,'' said Luke sarcastically.

''Luke I know what I heard, come on admit it you are feeling just as threatened as Lulu and I are. You feel just as intimidated by Michael as we feel about Theresa and Danielle.''

''Ok maybe just a little, but that's only because I am worried that Mr. I am the perfect father Steele is plotting to get Lucky to go back LA with him before I have a chance to get to know my son now.''

''Luke, really, you think Lucky, I mean Malcolm is going to leave right away. He can't it's too soon we've hardly had anytime with him,'' said Laura panic rising.

Luke pulled Laura to him holding her tightly for a minute until he felt her relaxing a little. ''Don't worry darling I have a plan, so Mr. Steele won't be ditching us anytime soon, we are going to be with our son.'' ''What's the plan?'' Asked Laura worried that Luke was up to no good.

''Now why are you looking at me like that,'' ''Like what,'' ''all skeptical like you don't trust me to do the right thing. I listened to Jason I am not going to mess this up,'' said Luke defending himself.

''Ok, I didn't mean to seem skeptical what's your plan.'' ''Pick up the family and move to LA of course, you know relocate, people do it all the time and you know we have lived here long enough change is good.''

Laura faced broke out into a smile, ''are you serious Luke you mean it, we can all just pick up and move, how? What will we do?'' ''Let me worry about that darling, I have it all worked out.'' Laura threw her arms around Luke happy at least that they wouldn't have to deal with living so far away from Lucky.

Webber Residence:

''Lucky, we have to get up and get dressed so we can get over to your parents,'' said Liz unable to resist Lucky's teasing lips. ''We have been in bed all morning and now it's after 1pm,'' whispered Elizabeth her speech cut off again as Lucky mouth began plundering hers.

Slowly Lucky pulled away looking down at Elizabeth with desire filled eyes. ''I can't get enough of you,'' said Lucky placing a soft kiss on the tip of her nose. ''That's the idea,'' mumbled Elizabeth, ''so you will keep coming back for more.''

Lucky laughed softly pulling Elizabeth over and on top of him letting her hair slid through his fingers. ''I want to get married at our church Elizabeth, what do you think,'' asked Lucky looking up at her.

Elizabeth smiled knowingly, ''I wouldn't have it any other way, how about two weeks from today you meet me there I will be the one coming down the isle in the white dress, say can I get away with wearing white, after last night and today I mean.''

Lucky laughed reaching up to kiss her, ''you will look beautiful in white, I can't wait to see you walking down the isle knowing you are coming to me. I will definitely meet you there, but you are right we better grab a shower and get over to my parents before it gets too much later.

I really want to see them and let them know in person about the memory recall before the party tonight. I would also like to stop by the hotel and tell my Steele family, I should probably do that first since I want to spend some time with Lulu before the party.''

''I think that's a wonderful idea, Lulu really misses you and I think she could use some time with you before things get too crazy and believe me they will once we tell everyone we are not only getting married, but it's going to be in two weeks.''

Lucky smiled, happy again that he was able to convince Liz not to make them wait longer than that, but she was right, things were about to get nuts. ''I think we should make the wedding announcement at the party tonight that way everyone can go crazy at once, oh did I mention that my grandparents are coming in this afternoon.''

''No, you didn't, is he scary? Will he object? Asked Elizabeth suddenly nervous about the Steele family realizing that she knew basically nothing about them.

Lucky sensing Elizabeth's thoughts wrapped his arms around her and kissed her gentle. ''They are all going to love you, how can they help it you are the best, the best there is,'' said Lucky repeating the words he had said to Elizabeth so long ago, realizing that they were just as true today as they were then.

''I love you so much Lucky, so very much,'' whispered Elizabeth looking deeply into Lucky's eyes her heart leaping when she saw the love she felt for him shining back at her there. ''I love you too Elizabeth, I love you forever. Now let's get that shower before I forget about my families and Edward's party.

Lucky and Elizabeth walked nakedly into the shower both marveling at how very far they had come and how in a few short days both their lives were changed forever.

''I have one question Lucky,'' ''Ok,'' answered Lucky washing Elizabeth's back his hands lingering lovingly over her body. ''How did you know what room I was staying in, I mean the last time you were in this house I was in the room down the hall, how did you know that I wouldn't have kept my old room.''

''That's easy and it comes from living with two different moms and two different sisters. The one thing they all have in common is their love for closet space and the bigger the room usually the larger the closet space. Audrey's room is larger so I knew you wouldn't be able to resist the extra closet space,'' said Lucky laughing and dodging the wet rag Elizabeth tossed at him….

Quartermain Mansion:

Among the bustling of activities going on at the mansion in preparation for the nights event Edward Quartermaine stood looking out over the balcony of his private study. His thoughts occupied by the disturbing phone call he had just received.

The morning after Lucky's return Edward had called his friend at the FBI to inquire as to the reason Lucky's finger print was not made available for the search team more than nine years earlier. Edward knew that the bureau had to have had finger-print on Lucky with all the Spencer's travel all over the world.

He had been enraged when Michael had mentioned at the party that they could find no information on Lucky and therefore had to end the search. He had seen up close through Audrey the way Elizabeth had suffered missing Lucky and felt that someone should be held responsible for that now that the bastards responsible for taking him in the first place were dead.

Edward was not prepared however for the phone call he received a short while ago. His friend David at the FBI called to let him know that more than nine years ago the search team for Lucky had submitted Lucky's finger-print to see if they had a match.

David mentioned that upon looking into the matter he found that someone very high up in the division had ordered Lucky's entire file deleted from the main system only days before the search team's request. He told Edward that upon investigating the matter further he located a hard copy of Lucky's file and the name of the person who got the bureau to delete the file.

Now standing looking quietly out at the Quartermain's ground Edward wondered what he would do with the information he now had. Should he inform Lucky? Should he confront the person directly and hear what they have to say? Why would this person do this? Why? How will this information affect Lucky?
